Phillips was playing for the Detroit Lions (Jones was on staff) in October of 1989.

Jason Phillips. The nation’s leader in receptions in 1987 and 1988, Phillips broke loose in the latter season, hauling in 108 catches, 1444 yards, and 15 TDs. In 1987 Phillips hauled in 99 passes, but only for 875 yards and 3 TDs.

what was he, as a receiver, supposed to do? ignore his coach, and just drop passes? especially as a guy who had NFL potential (and got there).

Chance to redeem himself. 8)
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

I'm trying to follow the example of the other 99% on this board.

Be careful, I might start a thread or two on the same topic!
