That's not right. Rossley was the coach in 96 as well and won 5 games, including Arkansas for the 2nd year in a row. Cavan took over in 97. Cavan then almost made a bowl game in 97 with Rossley's recruits, but lost to winless TCU in the last game, and came up one game short.
I still blame Pye for our lack of recovery. It only took Turner 12 years to decide if having a football program was worth the effort.
You are right Huskerpony that Rosseley coached and was fired in 1996. He also beat Arkansas(away) in 1996. However, it was Mike Cavan who beat Arkansas 31-9 in Sheveport,La. in 1997. If you check the records, you will find that game was Arkansas WORST rushing game ever in Arkansas history at -21 yards ! It really was amazing how we beat them like 3 out of 4 years back then.
I swear, there are teams that won championships in the 90's that reminisce about that era less than you old timers do. All this talk about Pye or the evil faculty or Baylor screwing us is pointless. Get over it.
redpony wrote:'Prolific offensive attacks' ?? How about just scoring some TDs. JR you are not the problem but many on the staff aren't carrying their load- especially when it comes to recruiting.
GO PONIES!!!
The point of those facebook status updates seems to be to communicate with recruits. Do you really have a problem with him putting a positive spin on things?

I forgot about that Shreveport game. We really had Arkansas number there for awhile.
That was the game that I was talking to some freshman girl the week before and asked her if she was going to the game. Her response was "Riiight. A weekend of football and gambling, just what every girl wants to do." I remember walking away thinking--where am I? I know lots of girls who would think that would be a great weekend.
