Hard to believe that our old coach recruited more QB's that played in an NFL game than our current coach who is supposedly a QB "guru".

I've forgotten why McCown left SMU. Could someone refresh my memory?

He was benched in favor of David Page.

He threw 14 INT's in 6 games, with only 6 TD's. More benched than yo-yoed. I don't recall people being too upset when he transferred.

As a Bears fan, I thought Josh played well given it was his first start since '07 and was playing the Super Bowl champs. Only one INT was bad. Plus, he ran and took some hard hits, when he gave himself up for the gain. Impressed.

He threw for more yards in one season at SHSU than he did in three years for SMU.

But he is no Jay Cutler. The team was 7-3 with Jay and 0-5 without him. What more proof do you need?

McCown has also started and played in more NFL games than any of Mike Leach's quarterbacks at Texas Tech.

McCown has also had a longer NFL career than the best quarterback Leach ever coached: Tim Couch.

It's important to modify the statement that guys like June and Leach are COLLEGE quarterback gurus.

(And yeah, McCown was an interception machine at SMU. Can blame some of that on coaching, I suppose. But he had a great arm and if things had worked out, we probably would have gotten his NFL qb brother to come to the Hilltop, too)
