Re:
Perhaps true, but I think many people under rate Nutt as a coach. He is a great motivator, solid recruiter, and also knows a lot more about the game than people give him credit. Stay or go, Nutt will be a successful coach where ever he ends up. He has done a lot with comparatively little both at Boise and Arkansas. His coaching is occasionally questioned because he seems to do better when his talent is the least. That leans towards more motivation and less coaching, but I still think he will continue to surprise people where ever he is.
For what it is worth, supposedly LSU did not offer the job to Nutt within his time limit so he has withdrawn from consideration. I guess that is like us pulling a scholarship offer after someone commits elsewhere.
Anyway, the latest rumor from Arkansas way is that Les Miles is the front runner.
Just checked back in...
It looks now like the front runners are Petrino, Miles and Del Rio. LSU interviewed Bobby Williams (its current WR coach), but I don't think he'll get the nod (at least I hope not). I would really like to see Petrino down here, although I'd take Del Rio. I don't think LSU and Miles are ready for each other. Geaux MUSTANGS! Geaux Tigers!
Frank Broyles is mad at Nutt for even considering the job. Broyles gave permission for LSU to speak to Nutt but he expected Nutt to give an immediate no. Broyles said you lose 10 to 15% of your fan base when you consider other jobs and give the indication of a lack of loyalty. In the past bumping heads with Broyles has spelled doom for the likes of Ken Hatfield and Lou Holtz. It will be fun to see this play out, but I can assure you that if a power struggle comes about, Broyles will win unless he has been dead for over 5 years. He has unbelievable control over the athletics at that school.
And yes I am aware that this does not impact SMU football, but my office is dead today and not much else seems to be up for discussion.
Re:
Del Rio? At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Miles might have knocked himself out of consideration with his team's collapse against Ohio State, but honestly, I think he'd do a great job at LSU. He's a sensational recruiter (you try convincing a kid he wants to spend his next 4 or 5 years in Stillwater), and he's thrived at a school where academics are available but not really a priority, and he's built a very good program, although they'll always be OU's caddy when it comes to coverage and popularity within the state, even if they became better than the Sooners. At LSU, he'd be the coaching the best team in the state .... and that includes the Saints.

Yep. Jack Del Rio, the coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, is actually on the short list of candidates. His daughter went to LSU and has in the past stated that LSU would be a job that he would consider leaving JAX for. His name is being reported by the local stations here in BR and in Jacksonville. http://www.jacksonville.com/tu-online/s ... 3459.shtml Geaux MUSTANGS! Geaux Tigers!
