Other places have him at a slower speed. I do catch your sarcasm though.

He is a wide receiver, it is pretty much impossible for him to pile up stats without a QB throwing the ball to him, and more than likely a coach calling the play. Are you really saying that he should just drop the ball when it is thrown to him? This is not basketball where someone can constantly call his own number. It does not work that way in football.

Recruiting services don't rate on how well a kid played in high school. Go check out any 5A Texas All-State team and you find plenty of guys who don't get a look from any Division 1A team. Recruiting services project to the next level-based on size, spped, agility etc. This kid despite being known worldwide did not have an offer a month ago except from about 8 MAC schools. When a recruit is well known, hits all the recruiting circuits and still doesn't get many offers then I tend to think that the best judges of talent-the college football coaches-are probably the most accurate. His offer list is probably no better than a hundred receivers so I don't see it is as much of a slight especially since the services I've seen have him a 4.6. He does get the distinction of being the most heavily recruited player in MAC History-sure fire blue chip MAC recruit based on the Coaches. These are the types of epic recruiting battles Reinebold excells at-just don't go expecting him to get many from real BCS level talent

thanks. for some reason i thought this kid had an Oregon offer as well but I don't see it listed.
Would love to see marks and lewis keep their word and sign with SMU. That would be a great WR class.

Aren't top receivers known for being the biggest jawers/ego-maniac [Gary Patterson]-holes? Michael Irving...Terrell Owens...Randy Moss...Keyshawn Johnson...and-on-and-on-and-on. I think this team is desperate for some swagger. Shawnbrey McNeal brought it in and it left with him. I think Jones has proven he can handle these type of guys, center them and give them some direction.

I agree with Stallion's observations. I've always been a little curious about why he didn't get more offers. Maybe the knee scared some folks off.
We will see.
Love the SMU pub regardless.
Need big receivers. They will either work and improve and shine or not. Personally, I LOVE the attitude. You BETTER have extreme confidence in yourself at that position (or any position at this level if you want to compete) as long as it's more Michael Irvin / Deion Sanders than Terrell Owens.

Ditto! This team NEEDS swagger! Seems we don't recruit those guys -- Marks seems to have it, Lewis seems more laid back ... I can't think of anyone off hand on the current roster that starts that has it -- maybe T Reed (possibly Crawford).

Yes! Taylor Reed: The only player on our sideline that appeared to be disgusted during the So. Miss game. Yes, he jawed with So. Miss players, refused to sub out for plays and suffered a one-game suspension for it (Tulsa)...but at least he has passion. He wants to win, hates to lose and refuses to do it laying down. June punished him for his insubordination but he's okay in my book. You need to load up your team with guys that hate hate hate to lose and teach them how to channel their aggression and energy positively. These guys become leaders. And that's why RBA will honor him with a banner like this next season:

Pony Breeder wrote:ESPN ranks him as the 220th best WR in his HS class. 220th! He thinks the sun rises and sets on his helmet. And just wait until his "human hype machine" egomaniac parents start telling June how to coach. As for his Twitter self adulation, yes, Dieter's "They will change the Heisman's name to the Gehrig Award" mentality can indeed be an accurate barometer of what's inside his cranium. The dude needs some serious psychotherapy to realign his priorities. Time will tell how America's 220th best WR competes against legit DBs instead of clumsy, unmotivated 5'7" HS midgets ... http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/_/id/88178/gehrig-dieter
Kettle meet pot! The fact that you created a pony fans account simply to bash a kid speaks more about your lack of character than any stats you choose to throw out just to bash the kid. Get a life and stay away from pony fans. This site is for SMU fans and you are clearly not a fan and do not bring anything to the table.

happy he chose us over Kansas and MAC. We were fighting Charlie Weis and their new QBs on this one, so it was still a good get.
Plus the kid has one of the best names ever.
