If he goes to the summer olympics, I would think he will take off from football this Spring and Summer.

As far as this goes. He still doesn't seem ready to make the Estonian team. Gerd Kanter, Mart Israel, Aleksander Tammert, Priidu Niit, Martin Krupper all had marks of 60.18 - 67.99 in 2011. Margus Hunt is not on that list for Estonia. I did not see Hunt anywhere in Europe in 2011. Maybe he had injury problems keeping him from it. I wish he would go to the Olympics. It is so beautiful and exciting and the level of athletes is amazing for anyone who has never been in an athletics meeting of that size.
I did see UT's WR Marquise Goodwin competing in London. He was the 4th best American in his event and he should be able to compete in the Games and come back to WR for his team.
Hunt will be 25 in July and I would advise trying for the Olympics but then at the same time I wished in my mind for him that he would begin his NFL caliber play starting with that bowl game SMU just won and to keep on improving so that he can play NFL.
I hope to see Hunt (Wolf) competing in athletics meetings this year and coming back to football at NFL level for the 2012 season.!!

Guess he could take the next 5 months off and try to make the Estonian team. Wonder when Estonia selects its team.

He has from May 1, 2011 to July 8, 2012 to make a qualifying mark for the London Olympics.

Hammer A standard is 78m. B standard is 74m.
Discus A is 65m. B is 63m.
Shot A is 20.5m. B is 20m.

In Estonia the discus seems the deepest. They didn't seem as strong in the Hammer or Shot in 2011 from what I could tell.

Competitions are being held outdoors now in the Southern Hemisphere. Australia is beautiful for competing right now but ya have to be ready and ya have to be able to get in.

Whatever....good luck to him....he is one of my Mustangs favourites.

Is not his best event the discus? Do you know his personal bests in the discus, shot and hammer? I sure miss SMU track. Not only great to watch and gives SMU good national exposure but really helps the football program. It was really short sighted to not fully fund this program and then to eliminate it.

As of Saturday, Matgus is now officially a Football player-not a special teams fresk show. That's what we've been waiting for. Great game-more than just the 3 sacks too. He put pressure on the QB all day long.

watch the SMU highlites-he almost had a 4th sack about 10 yards deep-Hunt took aim for him at full speed but I think QB evaded him at last moment-but it still shows his athletic ability. On two sacks the OLM was trying to hold him. He ran through 2 blockers on his first sack

I enjoyed watching him use his right forearm to literally move an offensive tackle out of the way. I also enjoyed him pretty much using one bicep to wrap around the QB's helmet and drag him to the turf. He's a freak.

sorry I'm so late to answer but I've been busy with my own training.
to the best that I know his pbs are:

shot put 17.64 Tallin Aug 1 '09.
Discus throw 61.33 Viljandi July 6 '10.
hammer throw 62.46 Kohila May 29 '08.

OK.
