-we beat an uninspired Pitt team. Seemed as if they did not want to be there, and it showed.
-Our defense PLAYED. It is easy to see how they were responsible for a majority of the success we enjoyed this year, as opposed to the offense...
-June wore an SMU hat. No lei. Nice touch.
-Williams' injury was Theismann-esque. The two folks I was watching the game with both commented on that memory immediately afterwards. God bless and heal that young man...
-Does this 'prove' anything re. the Big East competition? I'm not so sure.
-JJ Mc played MUCH better. A month of healing and refocus was evident.
-ED is an asset...
-As Bus has said, we need more size up front...our O-line is going to be hard to replace in full for next year.
-Grateful for a win. Granted it was in the lowest rung of the bowl structure, but after all of the lunacy of the past few weeks re. June leaving, coaches bailing, recruits tanking...it was satisfying to see that this team didn't 'Aggie' in the second half and actually finished the game. I hope this is a glimpse into next year.

Re: After a weekend to reflect...
I feel for the Pitt players. 4 coaches and non in the booth is a real liability. And their risk plays (onside kick, fake punt) could have been real game changers. That said:
Our D was the best it has been against good athletes. Pitt has size and talent. This wasn't a win over a NSU like team. This isn’t a TCU type win but will certainly get the attention of folks around the country.
DJ proved again that he is one of the best receivers in the country.
Our kickers did well. No pressure on them to be sure but they did well.
This team was prepared but mentally and physically. Great job by the coaches.
The SMU fans were the pre DP fans. First time I have seen that level of fan involvement in a very long time.

First, we showed that we belonged on the field with a Big East team. I think that was a huge statement win. I don't care about the psyche of Pitt, the fact is that they were on a field for a bowl game on National TV. We won handily. Luckily for Pitt, they are going to the ACC which may be worse than the BE in football.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

The best thing that we could have done, we did. We came out in the first quarter and hit them hard and set the tone for the game. Once we got up on them, Pitt just kind of deflated.

All good posts and I agree with thoughts expressed. There has been a definite upgrade in talent at SMU during the JJ era. The biggest questions for next year are the offensive line and QB. Huge questions but the defense should be good.
