You don't get yourself into the "pull" like Tech and A&M and TCU if you don't work the state.
I very well aware that relationships tell the story. Reinebold's rapport with Dieter tells you that.
But I also argue that if you have a change on your staff and most of the recruits behind are not from your home state, you are very vulnerable.
This is the problem with the approach of putting too much emphasis on California.
And I'm not the only one who feels this way about Texas.
But you are beating it to death AD NAUSEAM. This staff recruited Texas before Klemm got here and did not do very well overall IMO. The same staff was still recruiting the same areas, Klemm just added an area that he had contacts. But the bigger question is are you saying that the current staff even before Klemm did not recruit Texas well? If so are you saying June should fire present coaches and get more coaches with Texas ties if possible?

I think we have a decent shot at Lewis but June and staff are going to have work hard to out recruit several schools including Tech who might offer him.

YES -we are saying that June Jones should completely overhaul his staff. Diversity, younger and with contacts in Texas. SMU's staff is now about 8-10 years older per Coach than other schools.

Now I don't have a problem with that statement.

If Jones and his staff continue to work the fields, there are plenty of solid recruits out there. Penn State, Maryland, Pitt all have some shaking commits right now, so does Houston for that matter. There are lots of kids taking a second look right now due to coaching changes. We may find better recruits than the ones we lost.

Now that is the question of the day because it is easy to raid ULM, UNT, and Wyoming but hard work is required to be somewhat successful with others that are higher caliber recruits that BCS are going after. Because as noted we are not the only ones that see raid opportunities (as we are getting raided).

yea well.... Not sure i can trust this staff when it comes to recruiting. Less than a month away. 1-2 people recruiting on staff. I guess we have to hope for the phone to ring.
Isn't it somewhat embarrassing to the current staff at SMU to see all these DE-commits under their watch? It happens I understand, but is their BS so weak that they can't convince them to stay all because some OL coach left? After all, the same standards apply and the BE still looms and the playing openings are still here.....the same great education is still at SMU.....is still IS a 40 year decision, not a 4 year decision, etc.
Tulsa reportedly just lost their ace recruiter Van Malone formerly at A&M. He is going to Vandy. About 12 commitments in 2 years. He's the type we should be looking for.
