I just meant that I bought into the Minor hype and had some high expectations for a two star with no other reported offers.

OK, I'm trying to keep up with everyone's input. I've reshuffled the Offensive line and wideouts. I've put Seals in as a DE (Pending a position determination for him).

RT Taylor Reich/Kris Weeks
RG Jordan Free/ Christian Miller
C Blake McJunkin/Taylor Laski
LG Bryan Collins/Dontae Livingston
LT Ben Gottschalk/Josh Emshoff
QB Kyle Padron/Conner Preston
RB Zach Line/K.C. Nlemchi
X Keenan Holman/Arrius Holleman
H Jeremy Johnson/Ronnell Sims
Y Der'rikk Thompson/Darius Joseph
Z Darrius Johnson/Nyle Johnson

DE Margus Hunt/Robert Seals
NT Torlan Pittman/Aaron Davis
DE Kevin Grenier/Zach Woods
OLB J.G. Davis/Byron Brown
ILB Cameron Rodgers/Kevin Pope
ILB Taylor Reed/Randall Joyner
OLB Stephon Sanders/Jonathon Yenga
CB Kenneth Acker/Robney Hubert
CB Chris Parks/Darren Kitchen

Either Middleton or JR Richardson will start opposite Acker. Parks is the backup on the other side.

RT/RG there is no lead for, it is almost easier to but a big ? there.

Smith will be in the mix opposite Hunt. I think Smith and Woods are the backups at DE right now

Yenga is inside, not outside.

After looking at this lineup, my biggest concern is really beginning to be the safety position (actually very concerned - Smith and Scott, IMHO, didn't really look at that great this year). I know nothing about the new JUCO that committed. Such an important position, especially in pass happy CUSA. (and would like to see more quality depth at ILB ... surprisingly, we have a lot of depth at OL, just a matter of getting those guys playing together and their minds right - OL coach will earn his paycheck this year.

What's everyone's take on the safety position? I really hope Der'rik Thompson steps up next year - we really need him to be the burner we expect him to be.

Yenga is an inside linebacker, not old.

Darius Joseph is a slot WR not an outside.

Did you forget about Ace or intentionally leave him off the 2 deep?

Dieter red shirts. Uchenna will surpass Byron Brown at OLB, brown will be more of a special teams guy.

I would guess Parks is ahead of Hubert on the depth Chart.

Levingston has been practicing at guard.

Help me out here, because I'm ignorant.

I thought the X and Z spots were outside, and the H and Y were the inside.

Yes that is correct. I was just looking at the names and not positions. Then he has DJ at the Z even though he is primarily a slot receiver (although DJ chas lined up outside on occasion)

You know more than I do, so thanks for clarifying. I didn't know Levingston was practicing at guard (isn't he a tackle with that size? I guess not).

I didn't realize Yenga was an ILB, so that helps depth there.

I didn't know the difference of the letters used (I would prefer just to say slot and outside). Slots: DJ and JJ (with Stewart getting some experience)
Outside: Holman/Dieter

Dieter should not redshirt if he's as good as he seems IMHO. We need him to play right away.
Left Ace off intentionally - I think he's overrated but I hope he proves me wrong because we need his size.

In an effort to avoid assumptions, I was trying to work soly from the Roster provided at:
http://smumustangs.cstv.com/sports/m-fo ... l-mtt.html

I agree that Middleton will be on the 2 deep in the fall, and so will Garret Gilbert. Perhaps it was an arbitrary decision to work from this list, but I was hoping to keep the methodology as grounded as possible. Hopefully they'll update this in time for Spring Ball, which would open up a few more posibilities (Holloway for example).

This is a learning exercise for me, I'm enjoying all of the input. The biggest problem that I had, was trying to figure out the finer positions. The Roster positions leave a lot to be desired lol. So you have to have film to look at to see where everyone is lining up. For example, I wish I knew why I thought Yenga was an outside linebacker. I'm guessing it's because that was Yuri's position.

And don't get me started on trying to break down the WRs. I ended up relying heavily on Scout and Rivals to try and piece that together, and the results were satisfactory to me (I feel like I have a better idea of who goes where) but clearly aren't flawless.

You guys that have Hollaway starting next year might want to slow down. Another site says he's SAT has not been turned in to NCAA so not a done deal yet. Also hasn't he only played football a couple of years? Played basketball. Having this hard of a time getting in can he stay elgible????

We know he is competition for Beau, but this is all just speculation, obviously. come on, its a message board and we are taking stabs at a 2 deep months before spring ball starts...its just for fun and just conversation. Should he get admitted to SMU, my opinion and based off opinion of a coach on the staff, we should be really excited about Holloway.

We are recruiting a new breed of OL now a days at SMU. In the past most OL were in the 6'2"-6'3" range, in those days a 6'4" kid would def be a tackle. Most of the guys we recruit now to play OT will be in the 6'5 to 6'7" range (most importantly they have long arms and quick feet to be able to handle being isolated on the outside with edge rushers). Guards will probably be in the 6'3"- 6'4 range. I know Levingston practiced at guard, but I don't think its out of the realm of possibility to play him at RT if there is a huge need and Weeks/Reich are not ready.
