Let's not derail the thread. This renovation is good news for the BB program. Folks should be excited about it!

When filled with a big crowd, Moody is a great, loud place to watch a game.

But progress is progress.

I feel a bit the same way. When Moody is full or near full as it stands now, it is a GREAT atmosphere and a great place to see a college basketball game. However, when Moody is near full, the infrastsructure is overwhelmed, not enough bathrooms, the concourse is way too narrow, not enough concessions...etct.....

Have to make the renovations, otherwise we could lose new fans due to the fact they missed half the game waiting in line to take a leak or buy a coke.
Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!

We will also have an area dedicated to the SMU Hall of Fame. This will not be a replacement of Heritage Hall but an area solely dedicated to the members of SMU's Athletic Hall of Fame.

If you have any connection to this project, please see if you can get them to install projectors which videos of the athletes on some of the walls-rebounding, scoring TDs, swimming, golfing, etc. It's nice having photos and jerseys but adding technological elements, audio and moving images would really make the Hall feel more modern/interactive all the while embracing the past. I've seen this trend growing in museums and I really like it.

I have no problem with expanding/changing the areas outside the seating areas. They do need a serious upgrade.

What I have always loved about Moody is the dark colors and low roof that make it feel like a cave. When packed, people are actually in the rafters and it is seriously loud. I am afraid the the upgrades might involve better lighting and an open feel like the Baylor's arena. During grad school at UT, I went to a few games at the UT's Superdrum (or whatever they are calling it this week). Hated it.

On the bright side, the renovations send a good message to everyone that the Ponies are serious about competing in the Big East.

It will be interesting to see how much it will cost to keep the same/comparable seats in the renovated Moody. At least we'll have plenty of empty luxury boxes and premium seating....all in the name of progress.

I can stop you right there. We will not be copying Baylor's arena as that particular type of arena design (circular with seats a decent distance from the floor) has been out of favor for at least 15 years.

Think current Moody (steep, seats go up near the roof), just with some updates (suites, etc.).

and everyone around the program talked about how the "blue team" would roll "last year's boys" in practice every day. What exactly is it that you dont like, TB? You're pining for last year's team to come back or something? We could all wax nostalgic and say the good ole days were when we had Bobby Aitkenhead shoring up our bench but that was then this is now
I will not make age an issue in this campaign. I'm not going to exploit for political purposes my opponent's youth and inexperience.

beyond that, no coach in the country would trade this years roster for last years. Youth & inexperience are convenient excuses, but the reality is that a more talented team, players 1-13, isn't winning enough games. That falls on one man
