He has no other choice at this point. We could get all the DII level talent you want that really want to come to SMU at this point in the recruiting year but not many of Holloway's ability. Glad to have him. You might see a few more like this over the years where SMU was not their first choice.
It has nothing to do with SMU not being his 1st choice. It has to due with a player not having his heart in it because he had no other choice. In those situations, some times players find motivaton, other times apathy. I'm just hoping it's the former. Besides, SMU is WELL beyond the point where they could fill the roster with excited DI kids. They may not all be 3-star players, but they would play with heart and purpose.
At 18 i didnt have my heart into anything. I was more worried about having something else in other places.

1) What a terrible terrible error on UCLA's part. This happened to a friend with Med School and he was devestated. Sounds like UCLA is where he really wanted to go, coaches giving all green lights...I feel bad for him. 2) I agree with CMF - I hope he comes here content and ready to play. We've had several recruits come then transfer out and you hope it doesn't work out that way for this guy.

I wouldn't put any stock over an offer list that apparently hasn't been updated in quite some time.
But 6-5, 230 or whatever that is catches my interest.
Obviously, you want kids who really want to be at a school but there are some who have to make chicken salad out of chicken soup.
I still think they will redshirt him so we won't see Holloway until 2013.

He was gone. Thank goodness for a UCLA administrative error or whatever it was. Don't know about Moreland yet.
Welcome to The Hilltop Christian.
Welcome Christian. I know it's not ideal and it seemed he would have preferred UCLA, but this is still a positive for our recruiting class. We need talented recruits. Young kids are impressionable and he was probably soured on the fact that he didn't play his first year because of admissions and then was probably sold hard by UCLA. He'll be a good player for us.

Heck,we have a DB we will be getting this weekend that has no other choice but SMU. Relax dude it happens all the time at non BCS schools and lower tier BCS schools where talented player can't get their first choice falls back on them. I know we have egos at SMU but we have to take a reality check on where we are in recruiting and where we are headed to in the future. He never said that he did not like SMU. Glad to have him.
Feel free to Foe me 86. All I said is I hope he's excited about coming to SMU. This is after changing his Twitter name/ID (from SMU Bound…) and thinking he was attending UCLA (albeit for 2 days). This board bitc&es about not having players that play with heart and excitement one day, and then the next day goes down on your hands and knees for a 5.5 3-star with no other legit offers that is using SMU as his one and only offer. I never said a single negative thing about the kind, just "I hope he's excited to come to SMU". If that draws a "relax dude" comment from you, then you should probably ignore my posts all together.

Holloway won't red shirt. It was reported a couple months back that he was 6 5 and 265 lbs. He is ready to play.
A coach on the SMU staff told a friend of mine directly, that if Holloway were on the team this year he would be one of the best defensive players on the team.

I hope that's true as that's what my ignorant-on-such-matters eyes see. So many on here love Stephon Sanders skills (as do I) and this guy might even end up being better (and Moreland the same, but I'm not holding my breath that he makes it here).

There's a headline on rivals saying it's not a done deal but I'm done dealing with getting suckered into a rivals subscription because of a headline that then doesn't really reveal anything. I'll wait to see him on campus and in pads in the Spring.

I was going to say the same thing. Does anyone know what the details are?

Rivals subscription is well worth it, good time for it over the next 3 weeks until signing day too if you are going to do a monthly sub

Let's be honest: Most of these kids' first choice is actually one of the traditionally powerful programs. During our SWC days (Pony Excess years being the exception) most of the schools were getting UT and OU's Texas High School leftovers. A good friend of mine was a starting running back for SMU. He only came here because OU didn't recruit him. Today, he is still a big OU fan and I haven't seen him at Ford Stadium once.

Sorry to say but that friend of yours doesn't seem to have any loyalty to the school that paid for his education. He can keep on rooting for OU. You can make an analogy that most students also may only want to go to schools ranked in the top 10-15 nationally. We all know that not every student can get into those schools. But if students behaved the same way your friend has then there would be no loyalty whatsover in most college programs. He should get over it and be thankful for the opportunity to have played football at SMU and to have received that education, which I'm assuming was paid for by his scholarship. Once a student athelete decides on SMU, they are part of the SMU family, and we would hope that they would take advantage of the opportunity they have, both on and off the field.
