Re: Phillips
The answer I've heard is that A&M bankrolled a huge amount for Assistant Coach payroll and part of their concern with Sumlin was that they were hiring a CUSA non-BCS Coach. A&M instructed Sumlin to hire a National prominent staff and gave him the resources he needed. I also have heard that Sumlin/Phillips weren't that close but I think A&M really didn't want Sumlin to hire a Staff that hadn't been successful at the BCS level.

Wonder if he will bring any Houston recruits with him ala Klemm at UCLA? Are there any we would want?

Don't put that tag on him because it limits recruiting

Re: Jason Phillips
Yeah, I'm not sure why so many are willing to give him the head-coach-in-waiting tag. It's probably another 3-4 years down the road and where exactly has that worked out well? Instances where the coach-in-waiting leaves anyway (Muschamp), the C-I-W hovers over a coach's shoulder and creates a negative atmosphere (Florida State) or the situation completely blows up (West Virginia). And yes, the WVa deal worked out in the end, but it was a bad deal for awhile and it could have gone in the complete opposite direction.

Question I have is where does he fit.
Reinbold - WR
Saun - RB / Line
Morrison - QB
Not sure how this plays out really.
Didn't Reinebold coach RB's at Hawaii? If so, JP takes WR, Suan stays with the OL, and Jeff moves to RB.
Reinebold coached DEs at Hawaii.
Suan coached the RBs at Hawaii, though he did coach the OL for at least 1 year.
