Could not have had this season without McD's calm and assertive QB play

 have to laugh again. Like JJ said, it was all defense this season. The kid finally broke out of his equal TD and Ints. He will be known as the most immobile QB we have had. I will say Im glad we had a QB, but we hopefully with GG or KP battling it out we will actually have a great (on our standards) QB.

Exactly right, Comet. McD's calm demeanor and quick decisions got us a winning season and a bowl win!

I am very happy for JJ. This win is definitely redemption for him as it confirms that his injuries are what caused many of the poor performances. I think his detractors need to step up to the plate and congratulate him, especially SMU_Alumni11!

Looks like these negative posts have an agenda.

I don't have an agenda! My post was simply to support JJ McDermott! He gave us one of the best seasons in the last 25+ years. I was a big Kyle Padron fan and never would have removed him from the starting lineup, but once that happened I supported JJ McDermott because I support SMU and our players. I was simply calling out a fellow anonymous poster who loves to name-call one of our players. He has gone out of his way to dog McDermott, the least he could have done was thank him for his performance on Saturday! If being an SMU fan is considered an agenda then yes I am very guilty!

I'm not really a fan on McD, however he's they guy that JJ put in and he got us to 8-5 with a nice bowl win. I was hoping for a lot more this season, but after all the missery of SMU football the last 25 yrs I'll take what I can get... until next season, when I demand a conference championship and BCS buster run!

So sorry, Mustangxc, I didn't express myself very well at all! I know that you were supporting McDermott. My post was meant to RESPOND to your post, telling you that the anonymous poster who continues to bash McDermott with post after post has an agenda, not that YOU have an agenda. I can see how it read differently than I meant it, though. Sorry about that! I was glad that you defended McDermott. He doesn't deserve the anonymous slander that he has gotten from that poster... particularly when it is just sour grapes because his guy isn't starting.

Wow get a room you two. Geez I can be critical of the guy because I would say he had two good games: TCU and this one. Thats it. I just dont want to over glorify his amazing TD to Int ratios. If that offends you... well thats life, sad to say. Im just happy to see new talent coming in. I really hope you guys dont have the "intelligence" to say if you dont like McDermott, you dont like SMU. Ill admit he did good against Pitt, but do realize that if you want to really give someone a thanks, give it to every defensive player, and the young freshman who have taken much worse blows to their bodies that McDermott has ever took. I dont have an agenda as that is quite humorous to even suggest. What could the agenda be? To sway you all against our glorious QB... I think I could just let a year go by for you guys to forget him, lol.

2 good games? You must not have followed this season. He put up 40, 42, and 38 points in three other games to start the season. That's pretty [deleted] good.

He then fractured a bone in his foot against MSU which caused him to not effectively move in the pocket. Or be able to properly plant his feet for a throw and still fought through it.

This was evident the entire second half of the season. Once he had time to rest and let it heal, he came back and put up another great performance.

Great job JJ.

The JJ basher here sounds remarkably like the one who used a different screen name and used to refer to him as a "clown" etc. Same juvenile tone.

Probably a jilted ex. Or somebody who had a dog in the hunt at QB.
