This came out yesterday as NCAA Pres Mark Emmert came out publicly to say he is in favor of a 4 team playoff and that a 16 team playoff was problematic......

That's great but he has virtually no say in it at all anymore. Sorry NCAA, the tail now wags the dog.

Maybe so, but its just nice to see someone higher up in the NCAA circles to at least publicly mention that a playoff is a 'possibility'.....baby steps.

Re: NCAA President says YES to 4 Team Football Playoff
I wish somebody entrepreneur-ing, with money would set up a competing 4 or 8 team post-season, get it aired on CBS or Fox, offer equal or marginally higher payouts compared to the BCS and compete head to head with ESPN/the BCS. I'm sure sure there is some sort of BCS obligation in your conference contract that would prevent it but say you went to Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma State and Oregon in week 14 and offer a 4 team tournament, seeded according to AP rankings with the top seeds playing at their home stadium. Lets say Alabama and LSU plainly say "no" because they know they are going to be in the BCS National Championship; Don't you think Stanford, Oklahoma State, Boise State, Oregon or Houston or TCU would absolutely leap at the invite to play for a "CBS National Championship" in a new system. Hell, you could payout half as much as the BCS because the winner would take two cash pots. And the games would be near the "home" teams so revenue would be through the roof! Find local sponsors and give each game a catchy name. Oh well. Keep dreaming.

This has been tried before in some form or fashion but never received any hint of a response from the relevant universities for a myriad of reasons. I'll let stallion or another law dog handle that Pandora's box.
