My friend Brad
He was a son, friend, husband, and a Mustang. Brad was many things to many people. This is just a small part of what he is to me. He was a south Texas boy like me. Raised in the oilfield, and tough as nails. He was also a loving a caring friend. For all of us that we blessed to know him are lives will always be better for it.

With Brad, it’s "What you see is what you get". He didn’t sugar coat anything. That’s what we loved about him. A good friend tells you when you are screwing up, and he also tells you that he’s proud of you when you’ve done well. He loved to cook. I’m not saying that’s why he was a big guy. That was because he loved to eat. I have the same problem. When I say he loved to cook, it was because he would be cooking for his friends and family. Any time they had a party he and Adrian(wife) would go above and beyond in the food preparation department. He wanted to treat us like honored guest. That was just who he was. Brad was a family man and we were his family.

His time at SMU might not have been flashy to outsiders. In the mid-2000’s, the only thing flashy was the visitor scoreboard. But Brad brought a spark to the team that you really can’t define. He was a natural leader and a trash talker at the same time. However; on the practice field, friendship was out the window, Brad knew that practice was a place to get better and he was going to give you everything he had every play and let you know about it. I can still see him wearing #62.

After college we all found ourselves running through time trying to find our way. We always managed to find time for one another. Whether it was hunting, fishing, or just having a beer we always did it together as a group. And he was a very important part of it. From bachelor parties, to weddings, to babies, Brad was always there for us. He loved each of us, our wives, and treated our children as if they were his own nephews and nieces. For one person to have that much love and care for his friends and have such a large family at the same time is truly remarkable.

What else can you say about a person that always made you smile? From his patented straw hat that earned him the name "Toby Keithnick" all the way to the camouflage hunting pants that were just a little too tight. He might tell you he invented the chinstrap beard or brought back the flannel shirt. And you better believe him. Brad is Brad and I will always remember and love him for who he was, and who he is to me.

Farewell brother, you will always be a part of all of us.

Brad Kieschnick, 29 of Dallas, Texas died Wednesday, January 11, 2012 after a skiing accident in Riudoso, New Mexico. Memorial services will be held in New Braunfels, Texas at Zoeller Chapel at 3:00 pm on Sunday January 15, 2012. Brad Kieschnick was born June 6, 1982 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He is survived by his wife Adriane Strait Kieschnick and dog Honey, parents Michael and Sandy Kieschnick, and siblings and their spouses Brooks (Danielle) Kieschnick, Kelley (Travis) Hellums, Kristan (Andy) Laplante, and Bart Kieschnick, grandparents LeeRoy and Belle Kieschnick and Nelda Standard, seventeen aunts and uncles, twenty-four cousins, five nieces and nephews and countless loving friends. He played football and graduated from Southern Methodist University. He was continuing his education at Texas Tech University to become a Petroleum Engineer. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Brad's honor to the Wounded Warrior Project. We know he will be with us forever, protecting us, just as he always has. We love you Big Boy.
