Stallion’s Rankings

Postby SoCal_Pony » Fri Jan 07, 2005 3:56 pm

Can you give us your best guess as to how this years’ recruiting is stacking up against our last two?

It would appear that Bennett’s 1st class was his best; that his 2nd class experienced a modest drop in talent and that this class will clearly be his worse.

Hope I am wrong, but would appreciate your candid analysis, which is much for insightful to Pony fans than Emfingers.

I'm going to give SMU the benefit of the doubt at least until the next two big weekends where we do have some decent recruits coming in. As far as the JUCOs-I have no idea-there is so little reliable data out there. BUT I do think its a positive that the talent pool availiable to the coaches has broadened by allowing Bennett to recruit the best player availiable whether he be HS, JC, CC, Prep or First year transfer from a CC College. Darwin's Theory of Natural Selection should be applicable.

Very good points. With the influx of JUCO talent, it's hard to say how the class will be. Chances are it will be mocked by recruiting wonks, but if Clayton Cox, Randall Goode & co., turn out to be studs, it might be Coach Bennett's best yet. This, perhaps more than any other, is a class that needs to be evaluated a year or two down the road.
