CMF- glad that your insight into this years recruiting class is so great that you can see how much better we are than our competition. IMO the lack of a top level quality class this year is going to kill us in a couple of years when we enter the BE. You think we have depth problems now- just wait.

I also suspect that JJ will be gone after the 2012 season so he has no real interest in this recruiting class.

I think we have about 7 more spots to go. That is a good amount of quality players. But I guess we could just get a bunch of mid caliber players and call it day going into the BE hoping the 2013 class will be some kind of super duper top 40 class. I think the coaching staff is taking CMF's no big deal so let's just chill approach. I guess we'll see how it works in 2 years.

Let me beat CMF to it. Just chill we are fine and the coaching staff should continue to chill. This years class means nothing. Just kidding you CMF because I know you have a good sense of humor.

CMF- 6 or 7 spots is a lot to fill with top level recruits. Especially when you have almost none on your list.
It would have actually been better to get rid of JJ this year and endure one year of pathetic recruiting as opposed to probably facing another crummy year next year when he leaves.

It's unfair to the quality of the kids coming but I'm going to have a hard time not mumbling b*llsh*t if someone says this is the greatest class in the last 25 years. I know, I know, 2 All-Americans but the shadow of what could have been and what seemingly wasn't fought for will make that statement hard to accept.

CMF, I have never seen a school have so many decommits in such a short period of time even if a coach leaves. This has to be some kind of record and makes our coaching staff look very bad, Especially when the head coach is in Hawaii over the weekend and his top targt at QB commits to UCLA. I am just saying it is to some degree embarrassing to the school. This type of attention does not help recruiting.

Bringing in some top recruits this past WE might have been a good idea and opportunity. Especially since you could have effectively doubled up. But of course, JJ had to be golfing can couldn't be bothered and Reinebold was busy announcing. You can't tell me the coaches didn't know of the 'double opportunity' this weekend well in advance. They obviously just didn't care to take advantage of it.

This class isn't going to provide us much quality depth heading into the Big East and 2013 could end up being a very embarrassing season for us.

I wonder if they will be willing to write checks to buy tickets as (IMO) a lot of hard-core fans are going to rebel and disappear - ala Mestengo.

Not what I'm saying. I'm saying SMU f'd up by putting too much weight on one recruiting coach
Do you not think they will do that with Jason Phillips?

The 2012 class is good for CUSA, so I'm not real concerned who SMU has or doesn't have coming in. 2013 will be important as far as getting blue chip players to commit to SMU's introduction to Big East Football.

I hear you 100%. I just wish more would come to grips with the situation. SMU has a very solid core in place (keep your fingers crossed for Myers and Burton) and June and Co. will get 5 more solid players over the next couple of weeks. The problem is that many of you fell in love with players that were frankly unlikely to ever wear a Mustang uniform, regardless of what happened with AK.

Let's hope they sign 23-25 kids and pick up a few bargains in the spring. Then it's on to 2013. If 2013 is a dud, time for a change. Please, for the love of God, those complaining -- give it a rest! Not that you aren't right, but there's nothing that can be done about it at this point.
It's a message board so these response happen. Sounds like you are the one having a heart attack when someone responds in a passionate way regrading their concern for the program. Not try to take a shot a you but you do seem to have a little angst in you with he posts that are being made because there will be many more.

Once Rivals finally takes Lewis off our list I'm going to guess we are about No. 80 in the Country(we are No. 70 right now with decommitment Lewis-who scoresa bunch of points. As recently pointed out

2 Million Dollar Coach
Big East membership
New Facilities
Relaxed Admission Standards
3 Straight Bowls

and we are recruiting in Phil Bennett territory and facing much harder competition
