I thought we would lose those guys. What I have a problem with is the lack of effort of the recruiting front. We made little to no effort to retain any of the recruits. We simply tucked tail and ran. I don't think there is anyone on this planet that can argue that taking a trip to hawaii when you could have two recruiting weekends in one or make in home visits is a good recruiting strategy. I thought that JJ had rededicated himself to SMU but he is still practicing questionable recruiting just like he did this past spring. It is incredibly disappointing. If you are in Hawaii during the heat of recruiting season, you are not giving SMU your best effort and that is what june owes us his best effort.

Roundtree just got 3 Stars after my above post so that will help ranking

Does anyone honestly think Printz and helicopter dad are going to stick with the UCLA commitment?? This guy is a joke, and we will get a solid qb in the 2013 class who isn't a complete headcase like these two. Who knows where Printz will actually end up once some better offers start coming his way.

I think he stays at UCLA. He followed Klemm and will stay there. It things like this happen.

Don't think so. I would suspect that our class with be ranked in the bottom 1/2 to 1/3 of the conference.
This is pathetic considering what we have to offer. Thank you JJ for completely hosing this class.

Fair point I suppose. I follow two programs and the fans are polar opposites: one group (not SMU) has idiotic blind faith that their coach can do no wrong, and the other (SMU) thinks their coach can't do anything right. I guess I sit right in the middle and get annoyed by both groups.

Did you follow KU when they had Turner Gill? I looked over there a few times and they were much worse than we are now. This is actually somewhat tame and respectful compared to some.

SMU fans have only recently pulled their heads out of their [deleted] to realize how to build a strong program. There used to be like 3 SMU fans that had a Rivals subscription until it became cool. Most fanbases at other Texas schools would have run Ken Pye out of town-but SMU fanbase rolled over like a puppy for about 2 decades.

The language on SMU's board(s) tends to be much cleaner, but the balance of negativity can be far worse. IMO, it has to do with the very small number of SMU posters and the tendency to post negativity more often.
At least we are cleaner. There were a big number of negative posters about Gill and it seemed rather mean spirited to me. At least on the boards I saw.

All of this is just disappointing.
People have the right to be irritated.

I can only hope the CofC is as irritated as the fans. Now maybe they will do what should have been done a while back- get a coach who wants to be here, who wants to win and is willing to do the work go do so.
I hope SO sees the reaction this is going to have on attendance and season ticket sales.

All the bs on this board about a kid that will end up at Georgia, Alabama or South Carlina which ever offers first if he has a good senior year. Daddy Printz likes to see his comments in the media.

oz- the discontent is not just about losing Printz. It is about poor recruiting efforts and practices from the coaching staff. It is also about the staff in general, which would obviously (with the exception of Mason) prefer to be elsewhere. Their lack of effort and concern for SMU is quite apparent.

Until we're in recruiting meetings with the coaches, and until we talk to coaches about their desires to be at SMU or elsewhere, it's reckless and petty and speculation to make such assumptions.

Could it be that some worry about the coaches' effort because when they're sitting at their desks, calling players, watching film, etc., it's not deemed to be "news" ?

We need to stop griping. Remember that recruits and their families are on here. If you have a legitimate complaint, go to the athletic department, the football office, somewhere that can some change. Repeated whining on here makes PonyFans look like bitter children. We're better than that.

This is our outlet to talk about our view of SMU athletics. Recruits and parents will see no different on any other college forum on the internet. Say what you want but a lot of us have seen the problems coming from a mile away while people like you just bury your head in the sand.
