How We Got Where We Are Today

Postby Stallion » Mon Jan 16, 2012 4:33 pm

Let's revisit just how hard SMU Coaches worked the Texas recruiting goldmine in March April and May 2011 in comparison to other SWC schools:

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=53227&p=655837&hilit=March+April+May+offers#p655837

You want to know why there aren't many good fall back options right now-we didn't canvass the state like our competitors. Forget Klemm-this is the problem now. Note the 18 offers out by the end of May when 62% of the Texas Top 100 had already made a commitment

It is clearly called lack of commitment by the head coach to do recruiting the right way. He doesn't know how to recruit. He couldn't do it at Hawaii due to lack of funds, and recruiting in the NFL was draft day.

I'm looking forward to knowing which coaches will become assigned to where. I'm guessing JP sticks with his Houston & Louisiana areas ? If so does reinebold get assigned Dfw? He'll need to be more successful there than he was in Louisiana. Richardson and Johnson so far from Louisiana right ? And I guess fontana and free.

On a silly sidenote-I really wonder sometimes with these guys that check out within weeks-could it be they find out they have to wake up at about 5:30 to make it to practice. Shoot I'm going to a school I can sleepin' . Is that a part of June's sales pitch? I run faster and jump higher on full nite of sleep

That is a great thread that everyone should re-read in its entirety. Stallion and Nick look pretty smart, others pretty clueless (Ponyboy).

Nick proposed removing JJ after ASU. I agreed. Not because of any hurt feelings, I understand the business. I just think it is in SMU's best interest, and I still do.

This man is old and he will not change. Recent trip to Hawaii is simply par for the course.

I remember when I first discovered Mustand Maniacs years ago. I was expecting 90% of the posters to be diehard fans, p*ssed off at how inept SMU athletics was, i.e. a bunch of Stallions. Much to my surprise, he was in a huge minority and was actually being attacked by many. Amazing.
