Unofficial 2012 #23 jersey nominations
D. Johnson -- Great playmaker, and with the new kid and family responsibilities he could have bailed but didn't. It'll be a tough road for him in the next year with all of that, but I think the decision to stick it out at SMU will pay off in the long run.
I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.

Z. Line would be a great one for the honor. Heart and soul of the offense - hard worker, hard nose runner. It would be strange to see him in a different number though...

I would like to see it begin to be awarded to an outgoing senior each year, so with that in mind, I go with Line.

Zach Line would be my choice. Yes, it would be strange to see him in another number, but the guy is tough as nails, never complains, seems to have great character and produces at the highest level. I'm still convinced he could be an all-conference player at linebacker or a special teams ace.

I think 23 is for a black guy.

Agreed, especially after the fumble he caused during the TCU game inside the 5 that yeilded us 6. The guy is a player. I hope he gets a shot on the next level; probably not as a starting RB, maybe as a short yardage specialist and special teams assassin.

Categorically wrong. It's for a player who deserves it, regardless of his race.
I hope you said that in a badly failed attempt at humor.
Re: Unofficial 2012 #23 jersey nominations
No attempt at humor. I was just under the impression that 23 was bestowed as an honor not for Levias' playing ability but moreso for his grace and courage in overcoming the racial attacks he confronted. No malice intended; just lack of understanding on my part.

Michael Jordan.

offensive playmakers should keep their original numbers in my opinion. I don't want to see Line in #23, I want to see #48 because he has owned that number for three years and will continue to own it years from now.
