Re: Game Day places to go???Cobra, those places listed above are .... well, let's just say those aren't places you want to take a date. Or your wife. Or your mother.
As for food, etc., check out the Burger Wars thread. There seems to be some debate there about the best burgers in town, and I get the impression this might last throughout the summer. The guys involved seem to act like they haven't hit the best options yet, so check back in over the summer. Other than that, there are a lot of places near campus that serve general bar food - Ozona's, Green Elephant, Humperdinks, and a number of options on Greenville Ave. Get yourself up to Greenville and the choices will be many.
Re: Game Day places to go???Ya, ive been over to greenville, i just wasnt sure if there were some small places that are good game day places to go where you can find a bunch of football on tv and alot of people from the game. no predictions on the game???? wow, this is the first message board that is not infested by 16 year olds looking for fights. very nice
Re: Game Day places to go???The only place that you have to go is the boulavard. you can grab some beers, eat some food and hang out with the locals. you may even find it for free. but if that is not your thing, balls hamburgers, green elephant, its not hard to find something close to campus.
Re: Game Day places to go???Cobra939, I wouldn't take these burger wars too seriously, most of the places we have been to are OK if not always outstanding. Two Rows on upper Greenville (north of Mockingbird) had quite a good number of TV's for game watching. Humperdinks does also as does 1st and 10 (on Mockingbird at Abrams Road). Recently went to a new place called the Corner Bar located on McKinney at Monticello (it use to be a place called Chelsey Corner). It's been remodeled with a much larger bar area and they have a ton of TV's for game watching. Their burger and onion rings were adequate....I'll go there again. Hope this helps.
BTW, Campisi's doesn't have a lot of TV's (4), but a lot of folks go there after the games. [This message has been edited by PK (edited 05-06-2002).] SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: Game Day places to go???Cobra, don't let PK suck you in with his Campisi's bias - or if he does, go with their pizza (outstanding) over their burgers (decent, but only decent.)
First and 10 (Mockingbird and Abrams) has many TVs and has the best burger in town. Period.
Re: Game Day places to go???Here's your prediction:
Tech 34, SMU 27 I think the Ponies will be much better this year than last year, and the secondary will be outstanding this year, which is the only way we'll keep Kingsbury from throwing for a million yards. I think our DBs can stay with your WRs for the most part, but it will take a while for our pass rush to get solidified. (If Markus Pratt gets cleared to return, I'll modify this prediction.)
Re: Game Day places to go???With this talk about good DB's, i cant wait for this game then. That will be a key matchup for the game, whoever wins that battle wins the game. My bet is with the heisman hopefull though. Our offense has too many weapons. be careful, from a guy that went to the spring game, tech might be reinventing there running game this year.
Oh ya, i used to work at campisis in richardson. Two rows is a cool place, i like alot of those places.I might have to check out the corner bar

Re: Game Day places to go???Cobra-
Just checked out your webpage. Pretty cool stuff. You look like you have a good time over there in the desert. Perhaps you would be a good drinking mate. We have a tent on the Boulevard and you have to stop by when you go to the game. [This message has been edited by Eddie P (edited 05-06-2002).] _____________________________________

Re: Game Day places to go???Just so you guys dont get the wrong idea about me, I work in front of a computer all day so talking sports is the only thing that gets me through from 9-5, thats why ive been replying a few times. Me and a few guys were thinking about camping out next to the stadium the night before, I have a school bus i take to the football away games and we usually barbecue and have a few beers the night before. you fellas gotta have a drink with some tech boys
Re: Game Day places to go???A school bus...man, that's ****ing cool. You are a true fan in every sense of the word. There really isn't a place that you will be able to park that bus near the stadium, unfortunately...not without getting a boot or three from the SMU police. Let me think about it for awhile...I'll come up with some solution for you and your bus.
Are there any hot women on the bus?? _____________________________________

Re: Game Day places to go???ya, the road trips always seem to go better when there are better looking women on the bus. you can check out the webpage for the women, i got a few of my good friends that usually come with us
Re: Game Day places to go???What's the address for your page?
And walk the Boulevard before games - I think you'll be impressed with what SMU has to offer, too. "It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses."
... "Hit it."
