Unconfirmed commitment?

Postby DallasDiehard » Sun Jan 09, 2005 12:53 am

There was a rumor floating around the basketball game that Cuero OL Ross Nigh (6-5, 285) has committed. Let's hope it's true.

I believe it's a done deal. I also met Mitch Enright and Chase Smith at the game. Big boys!

I think I saw them. Chase Smith was with Lucky DeLay, and he was taller and thicker.
And I thought Enright was supposed to be short? He looked like he was pretty good sized, to me.

Nigh is about 6-5, 287. Made First Team All South Texas by Texas Prep X-tra, Unanimous First Team All District, Academic All District. I saw an article that said he had 55 pancakes blocks, graded out 96 on the year and allowed zero sacks. Named Lineman of the Year on the Victoria Advocate All-Area Team. Team lost 3A State Championship 17-14 on FG on Final play after being No. 1 in the state for most of the year. Made nary a ripple on the recruiting services charts which is surprising considering Cuero got a lot of exposure on its playoff run. But I have family in Cuero and its pretty isolated. 100 miles south of Austin, 90 miles east of San Antonio and no major media markets close. Could have just been overlooked-Texas is a big state. No info on other visits or interests although I've been told at least another school was involved. Historically, SMU has had some great success with players from Cuero including SMU immortals Henry Sheppard and Arthur Whittington who both had extended stints in the NFL.

The coaches really wanted him and are thrilled that we got him. Things are really looking up. Some more commits to come out soon. We are almost full.
