Biggest surprise: Vaughn Meatoga (6-1, 299), DT, Hawaii
Entering the week, NFL teams weren’t sure whether Meatoga had the talent to be a starter and had trouble figuring out where he fit best. After watching him as a disruptive force the entire week, teams know Meatoga has the initial quickness, hand use and deceptive strength to be viewed as a potential starter as a 3 technique tackle-a player who can shoot gaps and get upfield-in a 4-3 scheme. Quick? Meatoga has a 4.90 40 time.
Keep an eye on: Josh LeRibeus (6-3, 316), G, SMU
Not much was expected of Leribeus a season ago when he weighed 400 pounds, but this week he showed that after losing 100 pounds he has what it takes to become a starting guard in the NFL. He is not ready to step in now because he still must improve his playing strength. But he has quick feet, can block with good base and technique and consistently stays with his blocks until the whistle.

Check the report on Bo Levi too....he sounds like he did well but his size is a hindrance for his prospects in the NFL, He would do well in the CFL.
Re: Two JJ Recruits Shine at East-West Shrine Week
Other than the math (I didn't think he ever got up to 400 pounds, and I didn't think 400 - 100 = 316), that's a pretty good writeup.kull wrote:Biggest surprise: Vaughn Meatoga (6-1, 299), DT, Hawaii

Re: Two JJ Recruits Shine at East-West Shrine Week
Very cool on josh though he was a Phil Bennett recruit
Re: Two JJ Recruits Shine at East-West Shrine Week
Hope they all impress the scouts and get a chance at the next level.
Re: Two JJ Recruits Shine at East-West Shrine Week
Best wishes Josh. By the way, wasn't Josh a Bennett recruit?

Watching the game and number 74 is getting plenty of playing time and seems to be doing very well.

I thought Josh distinguished himself and really held his own. I think he impressed scouts and raised his NFL stock.
