Absolutely right. We all agree a player shouldn't choose his school based on what is written on a message board, but the fact is that recruits read this board. All of the June-bashing can be nothing but detrimental and needs to stop now.

Yeah just sit down and shut up because that gets things changed. Go to any CFB message board, any freaking one and you will see worse much worse. If for some reason a recruit is only reading ours and basing his commitment off of it then we don't want him anyway. They would not make it a semester if they are truly that idiotic.

Go Ponies, Pony Stagnant!!!

I don't think a lot of the recruits that decommitted even knew Ponyfans.com existed.

So seven decommits since the ASU scandal as Lane was gone before then! A pretty big condemnation of the whole situation from those that matter most! The seven decommits Laken tweeted about does not include Elston Lane! Ouch! Big Ouch!!!

That definitely seems to what's happening. You hit the nail right on the head with that one.

thankfully, we live in a democracy and not in communist China. so I will utilize this free speech thing and bag on JJ for what he did to the 2012 class by flirting with ASU so publicly. No excuse for this type of free fall

To all of the "recruiting" gurus...the recruits know this website exists and read it, as well as their parents. To get the feel of what is going on from a fans prospective. And some of you are right, Coach Jones going on an interview with ASU and all but getting ready to leave, until they took back the offer, did not make parents and/or recruits happy. Also, take a look at who is coaching at the "FAU" now. FAU will have to rebuild, just like SMU did. SMU just moved to the Big East, so don't think your program was any better at the point FAU is at now. A lot of thinking and soul searching goes into this kids' decision and to have adults try to make it a laughing matter is sad. Also Head Coaches have been flocking to Florida, to lock up their recruits. Now tell me, where has June Jones been? Not in Florida

I think we're all a bit frustrated with the news of late, but we do have to think long term. A program can always have short-term blips. Nevertheless, we do expect more from our recruiting process given the fact we have come fresh off a bowl win and are going to the BE in 2013. Now, as far as SMU and FAU, it is apples and oranges. From an education perspective, it is a no brainer and from a football perspective, the opportunities to play for SMU in a BCS-caliber program should also provide different opportunities. When you add up everything that you think would matter to a student-athlete it should be a relatively easy decision. However, the one ingredient to consider is location. It sounds like that was the primary reason for the latest de-commitment. If location is the most important to him, then we wish him good luck, but that doesn't change our perspective that we are a better program and SMU would also have opened more doors for him outside of football.

The doors still will be opened, just different doors. No one said anything about SMU from the education standpoint. There are big things going on in Florida and the universities have vowed not to let other schools come in and rape them for the best talent here. Any school that is not in state, versus a school that is, will have a lot to overcome and it is more then just the name of the school for these kids. There are plenty of kids in the NFL, that were coached by the staff that FAU has now installed. So that is no big deal. At the end of the day, it is what these kids want and where they feel comfortable. It is not about what the fans or the rest of us want. SMU is a wonderful program and will go far. However, you must admit there are issues that need to be corrected. By the way, FAU has pulled commits from UM, FIU and USF. They must be doing something right down there. Just asking, have you done the research on the FAU staff? I know parents have.

Recruits get interviews by Rivals and Scout during the recruiting process but not Ponyfans.com. So they would have to just run across it rather than be introduced to it. So you may know about it but others probably don't. I am sure some read it when they somehow ar made aware it even exists but to blame the decommits on commits on Ponyfans.com is simply ridiculous.
