Rutgers to play OU
Is anyone else a little worried about Rutgers playing OU?
I am probably being pessimistic but my worry is that the scheduling of this game is an indication of Rutgers and Louisville bolting for the Big12 in the next couple of years.
Anyone hear those rumors in Dallas?
Also, if Louisville and Rutgers leave, what would that do to the conference as a whole?

No concern. Rutgers and Louisville, along with Cincinnati and Connecticut will stay. Long term, the BE will be an even better FB conference, nationally and with the media, as a result of recent moves, i.e. a better brand and, as a result, stronger commitments by member schools, both old and new.
BTW, Rutgers playing OU is good for the BE and us. All members will compete nationally and go looking for traditional powers to play and beat.

I have no doubt that Cincinnati and UCONN will stay as they have both tried their harderst to get out but found no suitors... However, I am afraid Rutgers with their NYC TV market and Lousiville will bolt for the Big 12 the day they are officially invited.
That will mean the only remaining move in the world of realignment will be with Notre Dame. I don't think anyone knows what they will end up doing, but I am pretty sure they will not still be an independent in 10 years.

i think we could find a very suitable replacement for Rutgers...what do they bring other than the NJ/NYC market?? haven't been good at any sport in years. I'd honestly rather have Memphis.

Big 12 (10) people have never talked about adding the University of New Jersey.

I'm sure the Big East was worried when Rutgers played Texas in the late 90s

so they are talking about it, right? not a done deal.
OU will come to Giants Stadium in North NJ outside NYC. Now called Met Life Stadium.
would be a great travel trip for OU players and alumni.
I look at this as simply an away game for the alumni to enjoy.

Rutgers has been solid with the BE with all the turmoil. I think Rutgers would intertain an invite to the Big 10, but no where else. I should be also noted that Schiano has done a great job of creating a Rutgers football program where one never ever historically existed. They played the first ever college game against Princeton and had only been to one contrived bowl game in their history before Schiano arrived 10 years ago as an NJ guy just off Butch Davis' staff as offensive coordinator at Miami. Rutgers may be in the NYC market, but they have a long way to go before you can make any case that they draw any interest in the NYC market. They are certainly in the right place for that market, but with no history of any sports success in virtually all sports it will be many years before they start drawing more TV interest beyond Rutgers alums.
