Since your criteria for a resounding good recruiting class for SMU would be that 2/3 of the class would have a BS offer, can or will you please compile a list of non-BCS schools that would qualify as a "most certain" success?

Last time I looked at Rivals rankings, SMU was in 7th place among non BCS schools. And we still have some room to grow as, I believe, we only have three 'ships to give at this time.

It is hard to judge by rivals rankings alone. Rivals tends to gives every Juco a three star, which skewed everyone else in the past, and is skewing our ranking a bit this year.

This year is going to look better in Rivals because of the automatic three star rating given to JUCO players. But when you look at the offers that the players are receiving, whether JUCO or not, it is not as strong of a class as in the past couple of years.

I think the assignment is to look at the players whcih have committed to non BCS schools and figurte out whcih schools have over 2/3 of their class with offer(s) from BCS schools.

who said anything about BCS. We have wrtten confirmation on Rivals and/or commitment stories that our recruits were seriously considering schools like Sacramento St, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana Lafeyette, Central Michigan, Sam Houston St, Texas St. and on and on. I said there is no REPORTED information that I have found that about 2/3rds of our recruits received offers above the Sun Belt/ MAC Level. If somebody has some REPORTED information that says otherwise we'd all be interested.

Come on, Stallion. Take the project and give a REPORT ....not a RETORT. I suspect the report will be very, very similar a huge malority of non BCS schools.

The recruiting game is all about numbers. There are highly recruited players every year that do not make good college players. Even the top programs make incorrect judgments about players. I would much rather have the majority of SMU recruits being sought after by Big 12 type schools than have a group that only had one or two other Div. 1-A offers from non BCS schools. The chances of the class helping you win increase significantly when you get players most everyone wants. Sure, Bennett will certainly get some players that were overlooked by the "Big Boys" that will turn into great players. But let's not be naive. There is a reason SMU has not been competitive for, let's say, the last 20 years. And it is not about the money or budget. Look at N. Texas. They are lucky if they can scrape $1.50 together and they have been able to get better players than SMU. Why? It is about the admission policies regarding athletes. Why is it SMU has been unable to recruit DISD? Why is it the player rankings in the DMN do not have SMU listed as the school of choice for the state's top 100? When once asked why SMU did not have many players committed from the State 100 rankings, Cavan said he got players better. Yeah right. Great group of seniors you recruited Cavan. My point? It is not a good sign SMU did not get more of the State top 100 players regardless of how Bennett spins it. I hope I am wrong though but not likely.

That is not the arguement or assignment, JR. Take your meds and stay on task.
