I have come to believe from a coaching perspective Klem was not a good line coach. I base that assumption on what several lineman said after one month with Suan's different approach. Jones has WORKED WITH and is directly involved with the best coaches in the football world. I trust Jones is most concerned with having his line ready for next season and has already tried the recruiter without coaching experience who could not coach anything other than chaos.
Judging from his UCLA tenure Palcic is a subpar coach and recruiter.
Again, I trust in Jones knowledge of him. It will indeed be very interesting after this coming season to see what both coaches do on the field. My gut feeling tells me Klem's magic recruiting will make a correction. How long it takes I don't know but if all he has is a salesman's pitch, as I have come to believe, it may not last too long.
It has been a correction in direction after four years. Jones is making staff changes, fixing the line and receiving coaches positions. QB position looks to be very promising. Picked up a Class a Cut Above the last two.. Some say you have to win to draw the top level recruits.. The season looks good for SMU Supporters........... Too bad for those who see doom it is going to be more hell.
Not only do you have to win (serious winning like conference championships, national rankings, 10 + win seasons) but you have to offer the top level recruits and then recruit them right up until signing day. Our staff as presently assembled (down to 1 recruiter of note) isn't up to the task.
They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

If anything Klemm's recruiting will improve now that he has better product to sell that's in the heart of his base. Just look at the work he's done with just 7 weeks to recruit.

Every single player we've successfully recruited the past two years has some variation of the following story, as told by June:
I was sitting around at my desk and out of the blue, [former player or friend of June] calls me and says "Hey June, you've got to take a look at this kid!" And so I did, and it was incredible and I couldn't believe nobody had offered him. We were the first one to offer him and he's [some great athletic quality] and [another great athletic quality]. Really a special find.
Maybe WE, posters on Ponyfans, should be sending June and his staff videos of top level sophomores and juniors because, apparently, that's how things get done over there.

There was a saying when I was young "Patience Jackasz"... SMU two years ago was on the verge of the big breakout year. Texas Tech and TCU games... we were missing one piece then, the right QB, and we have been since then. We have shown up very well on occassion but Jones knows better than anyone what the Problems Are... The last two years there has not been the material to fix the problem.. next year there is.. I think the immediate necessary changes have been addressed and made, coaching and position needs.. the debacle addressed the issues with game attendance.. management and coaching seem to both be re-engaging for another level..
If we can get the death house gang to push up instead of pull down the team next fall should be and I think it will be... BREAKOUT... better athletes will then be more easily approachable and good recruiters will be made.

You either have the drive to recruit or you don't, June's geriatric gang isn't going to all of a sudden start giving a damn about recruiting. We'll know what direction our 2013 class is headed in long before the 2012 season starts. If we get off to another pathetic start (highly likely) while our in-state competition sprints out ahead of us then there will be little left of value when June starts his late January pillow fight for recruits (provided he's still here) with WAC, MAC and Sun Belt schools.

That is evidently not what JJ thinks since he has already warned us that this year will be a down year.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Stallion your comment reflects very poorly on you, you should be ashamed of yourself for what you said. But I guess I should not expect much more from you from what you have directly said about others on this site.

as for the rest of your Wrong business............. You seem to be Wrong.......... again..............
We need recruiting, not just coaching. Undiscovered guys with no offers playing 6 man football in Wyoming will only get you so far. Surely June knows this. What will he do?
None of these guys get off their [deleted] and recruit. Fact-none of them get the job done on the recruiting trail. SMU's Coaching Staff averages 56 years old. 6 out of 9* Coaches are 56 or older. This staff averages 10-15 years more than other Texas football staffs. If you think these guys are going to miraculously hit the recruiting trail and get commitments from 18 year olds then you are about to get disappointed again.
* I forgot Frank Ganz,Jr but who the hell cares-we know he doesn't bother to recruit anyway so why bother. I read hundreds of recruiting reports of SMU recruits since he's been here and I honestly can't remember a single recruit who even mentioned his name

I really hope we don't pull another Klemm and basically leave JP on an island to do all of the heavy lifting w/r/t recruiting...we have seen how that works out.
I was pleased to see JJ out on the trail for the last week of recruiting and thought maybe that signaled a change in philosophy...but it could have been pure desperation.
Either way, we have to start earlier, work harder, and out recruit our competition startig NOW!
