Beat TCULooked at the Froggy site and the Ponies should definitely beat TCU on Wednesday. TCU has had some poor losses -13 to Norfolk State, -12 to Nebraska, -24 to USC, -8 to Tulsa, -23 to UNLV...etc. They don't seem to be a very good team. Lead us to victory Doh.
Re: Beat TCUcan you feel the excitement. Having lost 6 out of our last 7, we are damn lucky the Big East has already invited us or this season we are posting in hoops might have nixed the deal. We are probably indirectly responsible for Memphis getting in the Big East today on a delayed invite. The Beast powers looked at us and decided they can't just add dead weight to the basketball lineup. Pastner should send Doherty a valentine. We have to beat TCU at home or this season nothing short of a total embarrassment.
Re: Beat TCUIt is an absolute must win for Doherty... although nothing could really save his job unless he finishes above .500. Not gonna happen.
Re: Beat TCU
Ha. Even if Doh won out he should still be canned in my opinion. Time to step up this program.
Re: Beat TCUhttp://northcarolina.scout.com/2/102882.html Very interesting article.
Re: Beat TCU
This article from 2003 speaks in great generality. True the situation at UNC back during that time was trully a clusterf_ck. Mistakes were made by many and Matt Doherty paid the price. He has since moved on and taken steps to rectify what his preceived shortcomings were. One can only hope that others invloved have been as diligent as he has. Let's just say that Matt Doherty fell on the stake for many. The environment at UNC during that time was pure poison and it would have taken a saint to coach the school out of it. If you can invision the scene from Warhorse where he runs into No man's Land....that is what happend at UNC for Matt Doherty. It was pretty brutal. However, in real life, the wire cutters UNC offered was to fire the Coach. Last edited by smusportspage on Wed Feb 08, 2012 4:54 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: Beat TCUSMU's AD needs to shop at the Home Depot and buy a pair of wire cutters.

Re: Beat TCU
That is funny....but please don't compare the situations between SMU and UNC. The two are not even remotely similar.
Re: Beat TCUAll very true statements. However, coaches, right or wrong, are measured by wins and losses. It has been six years, he has his recruits playing his game and the verdict is in. It is time to move on with bringing the program to the next level with a new "leader." I'm sure Doh is a great guy. His PR and networking skills are tremendous. I truly wish him well with his next endeavor.
Re: Beat TCUC'mon Travis, let's lay off Ira Terrell..

lwjr, Please do not encourage him. And yes - lets thump the frogs. An atheist is a guy who watches a Notre Dame-SMU football game and
doesn't care who wins. -- Dwight D. Eisenhower
Re: Beat TCU
I have been but just could not stop myself on this one. Watched Ira play as a kid and he was one of my favorite players to wear the Red and Blue. But you are correct. GO MUSTANGS!

I have been but just could not stop myself on this one. Watched Ira play as a kid and he was one of my favorite players to wear the Red and Blue. But you are correct.
Ira might have been a great player back in 1972 when there were few African American playing. From top to bottom in today's world, how good would he have been? Would Bill Russell and the Celtics won 11 out of 13 titles in the 1980's against the showtime Lakers, MJ Bulls, and even the Kevin M, Robert P, and Larry B front line. Not taking anything away from Ira. Just stating the game has changed.
What difference does it make what color his skin is? You of all people should know you can not compare 99% of the players from one generation to another. As you stated correctly the game has changed and keeps changing. GO MUSTANGS!
