Post from Travis Bickle--If they fire him immediately, we could get our spokesperson Ira to coach. Can a guy coach without a college degree?Bickle, this uninformed attack was not necessary. If you were a true supporter of SMU basketball, you would not have made such an innane, insensitive and inaccurate post. You should issue an apology to Ira. Ira, thanks for being a great player, tremendous fan and advocate for SMU basketball. Go Mustangs!

Perhaps the previous SMU administrators dropped the ball as far as retiring Ira's jersey

Somewhere around that age. I saw him play and Ira's # should have been retired a long time ago.

Bricker-I'll introduce you to Ira tonight. I'll bring a hard copy of what you said about him. Mind you... Ira is not what I would call a little man. Really, you two should meet. #Bricker pees his pants

There has been lots of discussion of retiring his number. If memory serves we only retired Koncak's recently and before that only Krebbs # is retired. SMU doesn't retire many numbers. When they retired Koncak there was lots of talk about IT. I know I should not feed the troll, but thought I would chip in. His # should be retired.

It sure would be nice if SMU would recognize some of their non-white basketball greats. It sounds ridiculous but when I looked up in the rafters at basketball games as a student and saw our greats were Jim Krebs and Jon Koncak, I kinda assumed that SMU had never really had a great black basketball player. My apologies Jeryl Sasser and Ira Terrell. Q, you should be on deck.

Really no point in engaging the lunatic in this any farther. Only a moron who claims to be a "true SMU supporter" goes all in behind Doh while at the same time having the nerve to call out one of the programs biggest supporters. Ira was quite a bit before my time, but any guy who spent a few seasons in the NBA and still comes back to support his alma mater deserves a little respect. Bickle just likes to get a rise out of people without offering anything of value to the conversation. Let him ramble on and maybe he can have a nice chat with the voices in his head.

We actually agree on this point, we should try to bring something positive to the conversation, or at least try to maintain reasonable objectivity in our responses. So, explain to me how trashing the players as not being good enough and knocking alums is bringing something positive? Additionally, given your "basketball expertise" lay out for those of us among the poor, uneducated masses how Doh turns around this season with the personnel he has. I honestly would love to have that answer as I for one have never wanted anything but success for SMU's coaches and players, and right now I am not seeing much success coming out of this program. I had truly hoped we could build on the positives that came out of last season, but for whatever reason that has not happened. If you have the solution to the problem, get your resume updated because it is likely there will be a position for head BBall coach opening up at the end of the year.

Do you have any idea about basketball? Seriously. Tell us what you know in three sentences or less.

I know Doh is a bad coach and you said your grandchildren like di*ck jokes.

Not many coaches are going to want to get embarrassed on national TV for a few years no matter how much you pay them.

The SMU job will appeal to some legit coaches whenever it opens — new-look Moody, Crum center, Dallas talent, solid academic reputation, Big East (and the salary that goes with it), great weather, etc. Someone will be interested.

But the more I think about it, the more I think Doherty goes nowhere. I'm not sure why. Call it a hunch.

I'm keeping a low profile right now, for a variety of reasons, but suffice it to say, the first part is very true. I know of a few feelers that have been sent out to different coaches, and the interest level wasn't that great, unless we pay close to double or triple their current positions. These aren't blockbuster names either, and both are from smaller conferences currently.

The only guy we can low ball and get to take the job, w/o question, is Fraschilla. He's been lobbying for it for years, and he'd take Doh coin

I'm not against Fran Fraschilla. The only reason he got fired was, he was alway looking for the next big coaching gig. He's a NY boy, and could probably talk the NY recruits coming in next year to stay at SMU. That is, if Fran gets the job.

Ummm, he gets fired cause he's a massive psycho that hangs brain during halftime rants. Anyone looking for a kinder/gentler Crum isn't getting it w/Fran. Total nut. That said, he's ESPN profile, runs draft coverage, and would crush Europe and do well in NY/east coach. Pretty sure we'd recruit
