No additions, just a merger with the MWC.

Perhaps you should. I was posting in regards to this.
"On a more serious note, NTSU is a good option for people who don't have anyone help them with tuition. One of my best friends in high school went there b/c his father refused to contribute anything towards his son's college bills. With his grades and test scores, he would have easily been admitted at A&M, UT, and SMU."
This person not only thinks that UT and A&M are vastly more expensive compared to every other state school, he also thinks that they cannot help with tuition more than NTSU. Wrong on both accounts.
Why not just take out student loans to offset the cost of Texas vs. UNT? Seems like a diploma from Texas as opposed to Harvard on the Highway would be well worth the investment.

No not really. It is the same process at all the schools. All the schools offer the same type of aid. NTSU doesn't just offer alot more aid to a bunch of poor kids than UT or any other state school. It is all relative and comparable based on need.
No, you're SOOOOO wrong. Federal aid is the same. School aid via endowments is vastly different...but I'm not getting into one more endowment argument with a NTSU troll...wave
http://www.txhighereddata.org/Interacti ... nerate.cfm
Average Tuition and Fees 2010 and 2011
Texas A&M University $8,391 $8,481
The University of Texas at Austin $8,842 $9,418
North Texas State University $7,660 $7,960
Texas Tech University $7,785 $8,560
University of Houston $8,496 $8,496
The University of Texas at Arlington $8,378 $8,690
The University of Texas at El Paso $6,224 $6,504
The University of Texas at Dallas $10,340 $10,744
The University of Texas at San Antonio $8,092 $8,410
Texas State University-San Marcos $7,480 $7,830
2011 endowment figures
http://www.nacubo.org/Documents/researc ... 7_2012.pdf
so even TxState which has nearly the same admissions as NTSU, has a much prettier campus, does more total research with 12 PhD programs VS NTSUs bloated and declining in number 40 PhD programs....is less expensive and has a slightly larger endowment to offer more aid....not to mention the other state schools with the exception of UTD and UT are only slightly more expensive
also here is what NTSU does best.....takes money and then squanders it
http://www.ntdaily.com/?p=61288
they raised tuition to "hire faculty" and then...failed to hire any faculty....meanwhile their Mechanical Engineering failed ABET accreditation which makes that degree near worthless for being an engineer
they are squandering time and money on a new 5th tier law school that is not needed......for their new DALLAS flagship campus that is itself a failure and nothing but a McDegree factory.....but the law school will help with their quest for "tier 1" right.......well except for the fact that law degrees are NON-research degrees, the law school is not attached to the former flagship in Denton, law schools are extremely expensive to run.....but the students at the former Denton flagship are footing the bill for ALL of that.....because the new flagship in south dallas is not self sustaining and probably won't be for a number of years and Texas does not fund professional schools like law schools beyond start up cost....which is why the NSTU-dallas college of law has twice put off opening up....because they can't steal enough cash from the former flagship in Denton yet to get the former UCD building renovated now that dallas has welched on renovating the building they were suppose to give to NTSU and because the new flagship in dallas is dramatically failing to meet enrollment projections so it requires other funding to keep it going....funding coming out of Denton
any school on the above tuition list would be a better value, have as much or more aid available, and would be a much better degree VS NTSU period unless one wants to be a Jazz Studies major or if one insist on a non-accredited engineering degree for some strange reason

you want to see stupid
here is stupid

read through all that garbage
then read this on page 94
http://books.google.com/books?id=bANS-a ... as&f=false
AND WE GOT NO OBJECTION FROM SMU AND TCU
for THIRTY FIVE YEARS these morons have blamed SMU for keeping them out of the SWC.....when their own coach. athletic director, and hero Hayden Fry says that was not true at all.....the same Hayden Fry that would have no reason to say anything positive about SMU especially
most of the fools in that thread were not alive in 1976 and the only reason they know who Hayden Fry is comes from the fact that you have to go back that far to see a time when NTSU had even a decent football team
they cry SMU never plays NTSU in football
http://football.stassen.com/cgi-bin/rec ... orth+Texas
yet you have played 33 times since 1922 with SMU owning them 33-4-1
that is SMU playing North Texas State 33 times in 89 seasons....well wait make that 87 seasons because for 2 of those years SMU did not play football
87/33 = 2.6363
so SMU has played NTSU on average every 3 years.......OWNED NTSU......and yet you "refuse to play them".......worse yet I have seen them accuse SMU of always scheduling NTSU when "they were down"

WELL HELLO IDIOTS AT NTSU.......THAT IS NOT HARD TO DO WHEN YOU ALWAYS SUCK!

worse yet even if SMU had kept NTSU out of the SWC and even if they did refuse to play them more than one time every 3 seasons on average......it is no different than the way NTSU fans trash UTSA and TxState whenever someone mentions those schools being in the Sunbelt or being in a conference with NTSU
and for the record I am not an SMU alumni and have probably only set foot on the SMU campus 2 or 3 times in my life if that
I just happen to be someone that calls out idiots when I see them

Comet wrote:Damn, can't believe UTD is as expensive as it is. I wonder why that is (I got my bachelor's there)
edit - John McK, absolutely thrilled to have you on our board...
the reason it is expensive is because it is a much smaller state school VS many yet it offers degree programs that are expensive to operate because the cost of hiring faculty for those degree programs and because they expect those same faculty to have very high research productivity while UTD is funded in the same exact fashion as Sul Ross all the way to Texas Tech
In other words just like every state school in Texas except UT Austin and TAMU-College Station
so they have high faculty and program cost, low student to admin ratios, and high research expectations and a very low endowment
Tech and UH specifically are able to keep their cost down even though they have large research programs because they have more students that lowers admin overhead and because they have much larger endowments VS the 255 million endowment that UTD currently has
and really on a per faculty basis UTD has more research productivity per faculty member which is why their total research dollars are comparable or above all the 8 emerging research universities in Texas other than UH and TTU even with a smaller student body and a smaller faculty count

JohnMcK wrote:And it looks like that thread was started by an SMU flamer so what was your point again you [deleted]?
how would he be a flamer he ask a question politely......and the same tired BS was drug out.....excuse the person that ask that question on green morons and homers.info for not knowing the crappy history of NTSU football and why they FALSELY believe that SMU kept them out of the SWC and even the CUSA
when SMU was a single vote in both of those conferences, had only been a member of CUSA for a year or two and the hero of NTSU athletics from 35 years ago specifically says that SMU supported NTSU for the SWC
