Sanders signs contract

Postby PonyPride » Fri May 24, 2002 11:30 am

Former SMU quarterback Chris Sanders signed yesterday with the Tennessee Titans. He was in their training camp last season and performed very well. No details on the contract were released, but it's believed to be a one-year deal.

He had a great run with them in last year's training camp. Hope he makes the team.
Good luck Chris!

Did he end up playing in NFL Europe this past year? I thought that the Titans sent him over to get some game time.

Last I heard, Sanders didn't play in NFLEurope.
But I sure hope he makes the Titans.

At the moment, Sanders is the #4 QB out of 6. They have Steve McNair starting, followed by Neil O'Donnell and Fresno-ex Billy Volek. Then Sanders and two guys named Phil Petty and Kevin Daft.

And there's talk they might dump O'Donnell in a cost-cutting move, because he's expensive for a backup. If they get rid of O'Donnell, Sanders has a great shot at making the team.

I could be wrong, but it's my understanding that O'Donnell has been released from the team, making Chris #3

Even better! Hope he sticks. With a strong training camp, he'll get a shot.

Anyone know who those other two guys (Petty and Daft) are?

Petty was the starter at South Carolina for two or three seasons. As for Daft, I know that he played in NFL Europe last season, but I'm not sure where he did his college duty.
