We need a "splash" hire for BBModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: We need a "splash" hire for BBHa, I can type but am mostly a richard, so I take back my original statement. I guess the question that begs asking, is how does TBI leave one w/a crush on Doh? That seems like an odd condition
Re: We need a "splash" hire for BB
Pats has underachieved, plain & simple. Watched him over 15 times in JC, & he's not the same player. His shooting isn't close to what he showed in the past. Does high an excellent basketball IQ. Saying that Pats has been instrumental in 2 wins in the 30 some odd games he's played in isn't that complimentary. Rob N. has been a pleasant surprise to everyone. I don't think anyone would have thought he had this high of a ceiling while @ Arlington Bowie. Ranks right up there with Ike & Killeen as far as Doh's best player development achievements. Problem is, too many players have gone south re: player development. Jfrog- avg to below avg PG. The real issue is Doh's inability to bring in a stud freshman PG to run the show. Too much pressure put on Jfrog. Doesn't have the talent level to lead a legit D1 program. Instrumental in several losses. Most recently, a terrible performance against UCF. Can't knock his heart. Cotton- Too soft. Needs to be more aggressive & consistent (see S. Williams) Again, the title of this thread is correct. "We have a great bunch of outside shooters. Unfortunately, all our games are played indoors."
Re: We need a "splash" hire for BB
+1 Great post. Is there any concern about the happiness of some of these younger studs (Jalen Jones, Manuel)? I cringed watching them sit on the bench at the TCU during the 2nd half. Realizing that yes they are freshman and can't act like Jalen did, but that guy has emotion and gets after it. Something we haven't seen around here.
Re: We need a "splash" hire for BBThere is concern. Its valid and they are so clueless, it had to be brought to their attention
Re: We need a "splash" hire for BB
Who is the they and the their in that sentence? I could not tell if it was the coaches or the young players. Also, who brought it to their attention? Not trying to be an [deleted], really could not tell your meaning. Grant Carter
Re: We need a "splash" hire for BBProbably much better than yours.
P.S. I have never claimed to be a college basketball coach. Now go play in the street. GO PONIES!!!
Re: Re: We need a "splash" hire for BB
Objection, relevance. Redpony's choosing record had no bearing on an objective review of doh. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk The donkey's name is Kiki.
On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney? Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.
Re: We need a "splash" hire for BB
78-103. Begins and ends there.
Re: We need a "splash" hire for BB
That's too much logic to use on TB. He's delusional. He is either Doh or has the biggest man crush. He or she doesn't care about SMU, only Doherty. I care about SMU and if the coach isn't performing then it's time to move on. I personally don't have anything against Doh and I think he cares about SMU, but he's not a good coach. It's that simple. This is a guy who couldn't win with the benefit of recruiting for North Carolina. His record at SMU is abysmal. If any of us had a job for 6 years with that sort of performance, would any of us really have our jobs? He's highly overpaid for the record he has here at SMU. We need to move on. Six years is long enough. His track record before that should be also be good indicator that he can't coach. Let's hope we get that coach who will take this program to where we all want it to be.
Re: Re: We need a "splash" hire for BB
If you can't do better than 103-78 when buying players you deserve worse than death penalty! "I think Couchem is right."

Re: We need a "splash" hire for BBWhat's baylors record been with drew
Re: We need a "splash" hire for BBI'm definitely ready for a winning change.
Re: We need a "splash" hire for BBAin't nobody getting the "Death Penalty!" The NCAA Infractions Committee has reverted back to being geldings; once they saw how much damage they did to SMU's athletics program.

Re: We need a "splash" hire for BBMaybe not, but it is still on the books.
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/story/2012-02-09/ncaas-emmert-backs-tough-enforcement-changes/53033832/1 "The so-called death penalty — complete shutdown of a program for part or all of a season or more, as the NCAA did with SMU football in 1987 — isn't featured in the proposed plan but will remain on the books, Roe Lach said."
Re: We need a "splash" hire for BBI never said the death penalty wasn't on the books. I was saying if SMU started bending the rules to enroll athletic talent in to the university, the NCAA wouldn't do anything more than a slap on the wrist.
