Fire and Passion? Lack of commitment? What are these comments based on? I believe the school has come a long way in the last 3-4 years. It will progress even more assuming the Big East money continues to come in and stay in the athletic department.
I will tell you exactly where the fire, passion and lack of commitment comments come from. They come straight from recruits mouths. That is how we know there is a problem because 40 kids a year are telling us there is. When recruits are talked to we are never mentioned as being the one that is in contact with them the most NEVER. The only time that we were was when Klemm was here. All of his recruits constantly said that they were hearing from us the most. We are getting out worked by everyone else. I will say that this is fact because I am not willing to call 30-40 recruits liars.

We lose two active recruiters (AK and JR) and they are replaced by one person who may do some recruiting.[/b][/color] I guess we'll know pretty quick if JP is really a recruiter or not.
It's time to get off of JJ's back and watch him work. However, I looking at 2013 recruiting also. However, I expect SMU to have a great year this year and have one or more four star recruits next February. If we continue to have a winning program and are in a major conference then we should be able to pull four and five star players. When I say winning program I mean one that virtually always has a winning record and often wins conference championships and bowl games. Every year we have a great season the recruiting of a better rated player should get easier. As for seeing recruits in the state of Texas early in the recruiting year - I was in hopes that June Jones hired Phillips in part to recruit better rated players here in Texas. If we aren't getting the four and five star players over the next few years and have a winning program as defined above, then I think we do need to evaluate where we are and who needs to lead us forward.
