My favorite SMU QB quitting incident: a QB we took out of Highland Park right after the DP quit school to write poetry.

Mike Romo, our QB after the DP quit the team because of injuries. I don't blame him because he was really injured and couldn't really play anymore. After quitting in his comeback attempt, he gave a great quote that went something like: "I don't want to go out like an Old, Fat Elvis."

Bobby Waters, our QB before the DP, left for Missouri after we got the DP.

But Cavan benched 4-year starter Flanigan for Freshman "Aren't you a little short to be a Storm Trooper?" Chris Sanders

WAters transferred to Arizona. Stallenwork (sp) from HP transferred to Missouri. Both due to the DP. Waters comes to all the games and was at b'ham. I think stallenworks dad and gdad both played at SMU.

Almost all of the QB from my days stayed if I recall correctly. Hixson started 3 years and Hammond one. Even the subs stayed with the exception of one who I believe did transfer my senior year.

My favorite Romo quote as a freshman "there were some interesting cloud formations over Austin that afternoon."

So I think the correct answer-at least as to QBs that played and stayed for both their Junior and Senior season is Don King.

Stallion and another proffered Tate Wallis; however, I believe they had a senior moment and actually meant Willis Tate.

There is a Coach a few miles to the West that takes the QBs(and other recruits) he gets, keeps them on campus and develops the players he has. Big Fat guy who slobers on Towel-Lady.
