Classic Max Emfinger

I got a good laugh looking at Max Emfinger's cite to check on the All-Star game that I think Mitch Enright and maybe David Allison played in. The gaudy jersey's worn by the players have in big bold letters "MAX EMFINGER'S H.S. ALL-AMERICAN" in bold letter on the front of the jerseys. I'm surprised he was willing to pay extra for all the extra letters! What an ego. BTW that QB Clint Bricker who SMU looked at earlier was named the Offensive MVP on his Sunday website but so far as no offers. The only problem was that he had already named another recruit as Offensive Player of the Game on his Saturday story on the game and both played on the West squad. Makes you scratch your head. Guess Max has some special formula for distinquishing between an Offensive MVP and an Offensive Player of the Game or perhaps he got in some new film on the game.

Stallion, as I've said before, Max takes your $20 & your kid's VCR highlight tape & makes him a star. I'm surprised he had only 2 mvp on offense. Max & other 'recruiting' sites reaffirm the "BS" that is H.S. recruiting services!

Show me the 'offers', & I'll believe the final player rankings...

Max and HS All American Game

Postby stangmom » Tue Jan 18, 2005 12:00 pm

I must say.....I find people either like Max or they DO NOT like Max. I don't have a opinion on Max one way or the other actually. I do want to say thought that I was at the All American Bowl Game in Sheveport and I believe that it was a good event with possibilities of being great! Max's whole idea of this game was to get talented players that had been overlooked a second chance. I have been to and watched the Army Bowl for years and it has become a game of mostly "committed" players waiting to tell everyone on national television where they are going to college on scholarship during a commercial break - and that is all fine and dandy, but Max's idea seems to be to ask many types of kids......both those that have offers and those that don't but need one. I spent the whole week in Shreveport watching practices and meeting many of the players. Some of these kids had GREAT talent but maybe they weren't the full 6'5"....etc - maybe they weren't exactly stereotype with no question. One kid inparticular a Matthew Featherston from New York played defensive linebacker for the West.......he was awesome, he put more pressure on the East quarterback than I have seen a linebacker due in a long time. He came to Shreveport with no offers on the table, by the time he left Friday morning, he already had Ohio State and 1 other school call his house and it was rumored that Texas A&M had interest. Now that is success for a Bowl Game. A second chance for kids that need it.

Although there were MANY kids there with full scholarships like; Allison - SMU committ; Grimes - A&M Committ; Williams - A&M committ, etc. the list is long. Which makes for a great mix of kids with great talent and was a great week of football!!!

Max has a good idea. After all, the Army Bowl nominates 400 players for the game and chooses 78.........that sure leaves alot of talent sitting at home. Why should they.......let them play too!!!!
