so I guess the moral of this whole story is: pay your players better so they aren't forced to sell drugs

Hey Stud.. Since when do you need more than innuendo to run on and on?

TCU is "The Model", which Stallion must protect at all costs.
Are sworn affidavits found within Tarrant County arrest warrants proof enough to talk about this now? It's amazing how you bend over backwards to applaud TCU and deflect criticism.

TCU coach Gary Patterson comments released in statement:
TCU Head Football Coach Gary Patterson:
"There are days people want to be a head football coach, but today is not one of those days. As I heard the news this morning, I was first shocked, then hurt and now I’m mad.
"Under my watch, drugs and drug use by TCU’s student-athletes will not be tolerated by me or any member of my coaching staff. Period. Our program is respected nationally for its strong ethics and for that reason the players arrested today were separated from TCU by the University. I believe strongly that young people’s lives are more important than wins or losses.
"This situation isn’t unique to TCU-it is a global issue that we all have to address. This isn’t just about bad decisions made by a small percentage of my team. It is about a bigger issue across this country and world.
"As a coach, I do the best I can to educate members of my team. We have programs in place that teach student-athletes about what they should and shouldn’t do and how to be successful in life. I talk to them about how to be students and upstanding men that uphold the TCU name and its traditions.
"At the end of the day, though, sometimes young people make poor choices. The Horned Frogs are bigger and stronger than those involved."

What a load of crap. Not sure who really believes Patterson. They should show him the report from one of his own players about the zero-tolerance policy.

Interestingly enough, some cryptic remarks have been posted here before today:
One advising to keep an eye on the police blotter.
Another praising TCU's efforts in investing in the football program to build respect.

I'm surprised he did just say "well, I'm sure SMU uses drugs. why aren't you investigating them? did they put you up to this? they really cant handle my success and want to be a fat annoying loser just like me!"

Well at least TCU is getting into the Big 12/Texas spirit.
Would be shocked if this was the end of arrests.

This whole investigation was brought on by external pressures (ie, parents of students, etc), so it wasn't as if tcu did this out of self-righteousness. The skeptic part in me thinks that they probably delayed the actual arrests until after NSD, since football is their biggest priority.

Can't that guy take responsibility for anything? Four of your 85 players got busted for dealing fat baggies of marijuana and one of them implicated that they were selling to teammates and that most of the team failed a drug test you gave a month ago. But it's not your problem, or a TCU problem, it's a national problem.
