Yaaawn.........I don't know about the rest of you, but "42nd in the Nation man!" doesn't do much for me. Try bragging about that around the water cooler today.

That number puts us in the top 13% of 327 D-1 schools which isn't too shabby for a little ole private University with not much budget. Also, it beats being #113 out of 117 D-1 football programs.

I would take a lower overall ranking and a winning football team and a basketball team that plays in the NCAA tournament more than once every 15+ years.

I guess I am in that 1%. I take pride in all SMU sports especially Soccer. Broad based support of the overall athletic program is good for SMU including our struggling football and BB programs.

Let's not foget though that our troubles in the revenue sports has caused us to lose someo f our non-revenue sports. I am proud of all of our sports too, but we have a much better chance of having an overall quality athletic program if we can get football and men's basketball on track, and successful.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

Think of it in these terms. If our FB and BB teams turn around, we will probably be ranked in the Top 20.

“That would indeed be impressive and something we could all hang our cowboy hats on.”

The above quote was made in honor of our 43rd President, who is being inaugurated as I type. Congratulations President Bush and listen to your First Lady come Library decision time, which I have read maybe be as early as this year.

Without men's track our only spring contributions will be women's track, M&W tennis and golf. Winter should give us some points for M&W swimming and maybe W's bball. Prior to the last three years, we've been in the Top 30 routinely. Men's track is now gone. Men's swimming has fallen out of the top 10 and into the top 25. Women's swimming has bounced around between 4 and 30. Men's golf has been pretty consistent. Men's tennis has been up and down. Women's tennis has been up and down as has Women's golf. Women's basketball used to be pretty good, but they have been down for a couple of years, although this year is promising. Do we get points for equestrian?
