didn't someone say we got a visit from this kid last week-or am I mistaken. Just noticed he made the final Lone Star Recruiting Final Top 100 which is done by Geoff Ketchum the editor of Orangebloods.com the Rivals affiliate. This list generally varies a little from the official Top 100 list. Noticed that Korey Washington has been and remains on the list at No. 79 but there is no reports on him other than to say he is 5-11 181 4.4.I think I looked this guy up last week and got very litle info. No reports of visits or interest. What's the story on this kid?

hmmm-this kid looks like a great athlete. Like Mapps he's a QB that runs but bigger than Mapps. Was named the All-Central Texas Player of the Year and First Team QB by that Austin-American Statesman, won the Player of the Week honors for the entire state by Texas Football once this year, won District MVP, rushed for over 1900 yards from his QB position and had over another 1,100 passing. Had back-to-back rushing games where he rushed for 276 yards in EACH game.

Korey Washington is a terrific athlete. You're right in making the comparison to James Mapps (who I'm told is now measuring 5'10") -- each is a terrific runner playing QB because his team runs the ball most of the time, and the coaches want the ball in their best athlete's hands. Washington, I believe, is a hair faster than Mapps, who's a little bit more elusive. Watching Mapps run is sometimes almost comical, as defenders flail at him, only to come up empty-handed. Washington is more of a slashing runner who sees a gap and explodes through it. He's eerily similar to Joel Armstrong at Rice, in that he looks small (or at least thin), and isn't going to remind anyone of John Elway or Bertt Favre when throwing the ball. But all three are very gifted runners. Mapps is a definite RB in college (as Armstrong would be in any non-Rice offense). Washington likely will start out, at least, at RB, although he also could play CB or SR.

Korey Washington committed to NTSU. Rice got Carl Taylor. These guys were candidates for the last 1-2 spots. Guess they got tired of waiting for Stephen Hodge or whoever else we have slotted to make up their minds.
