He went with two of our biggest athletic donors and their wives. He has been back for three weeks...

Agree. First really good answer. Some of the posts made it sound like he was still over there.

Did we pull in any recruits? Some of those Palastinians have impressive arms.

He was recruiting for our basketball team. With Israelis on our team and Rice's Iranians, future clashes with the Owls are certain to be explosive.

There is a qb from tel aviv skyline and a big DE at Jerusalem John Tyler that i think we are in on. Still need to get an inner city guy so the kids at Haifa Lincoln will listen to us.

Inner city Jerusalem kids will make a bigger BANG than inner city Dallas kids!

Would be nice to have heard something from June in over a month. How many schools can have communication between a coach and the outside world go completely dark for over a month and counting?

He was back much earlier than that--unless that was a clone at the fundraising dinner two weeks ago...

I am not sure what the stink is about someone taking a vacation when they can.

If we just stick to wins and losses we might all be better off. We have a new recruiting coordinator let him go about his business. From all the noise on the recruiting sites we seem to be way ahead of last year in terms of Texas recruiting. If I remember correctly, I complained last May that we only had 6 or so offers out in Texas. Be critical, but I see a big difference. I don't recall the number of recruits mentioning Tom Mason so often or such a quick start in FL.

My own opinion was that last year's Junior Day was a bomb. Let's see who comes this year and who doesn't.

You are beating your head against a wall. Some on here will never accept JJ as the coach regardless of what he does or doesn't do. There are some things that upset me about him but the success he has had in heading the program in the right direction supersede most of them. I want him to bleed red and blue like most of us on here and be visible doing it. Say what you will about Patterson but I would love for JJ to have the same feelings for SMU that Patterson has for TCU. He loves the school and shows it in everything he does. And I agree that JJ needs to get out more and spend more time smoozing recruits. We do need another young and energetic recruiter/coach on the staff and I hope that happens in the near future. To sum it up. He has warts but he also has changed the losing attitude that permeated the program when he arrived. SO and Turner have endorsed him and said he is going to be SMU's coach for the next several years so that makes him my coach. I will voice my opinion when I disagree with something he does, but I won't constantly take potshots at him and the program at every turn like some on here do.
