what is the precious resources BS argument? What? Answer the phone and run the transcript through admission. I thought that is what they are hired to do. I'd rather SMU gets the best player availiable. The rise of the TCU program relied heavily on these Division 1A transfers including about 3-4 that made All-Conference. At least Divion 1A transfers are generally fully qualified out of high school. You are painting with a pretty big brush to suggests these kids are 'troublemakers".

Come on Stampede, he is too busy reading Rivals to do that report. Don't forget that Rivals IS the authority on recruiting.

Ummmm, we did not think he could play? I don't really believe this, but if so, every person in a talent evaluating position should be fired. OU and Nebraska think he can play well enough to offer, but SMU doesn't? Are you serious?

Let's keep this discussion realistic.

Rivals and its predecessors have been good enough to predict that SMU would suck for the last 15 years. How's the Coaches' Inner Circle Lap Dog Cheering Section been on predicting SMU football for the last 15 years

Uh, by my recollection, not good. These are the people who predict 7-4 and a bowl bid EVERY YEAR. Not good at all.

Stallion… You are Wrong!

SMU has not been terrible for the past 15 years. It is now 16 years. Include the additional 2 years of DP and we now have a situation where all our future incoming freshmen will be born AFTER the DP.

Why some of you take out our 16 years of ineptitude on Stallion is beyond me. The facts support Stallion. You may not like his style, but you cannot argue with his fundamental premise. Stallion gets it.

FACT: Over the past 18 years only four schools have worse winning percentages than us. One is Temple, a school currently debating D1-A existence. Another is Buffalo and yet another is Kent State.

Kent State's got a valid excuse--they're still recovery from their literal "death penalty" handed down by our own National Guard in the '60s.

In the interest of completeness, who's the fourth?

With our 3 wins this year we surpassed Vanderbilt…..but barely….by less than one game.

Why does anybody on here think Stallion knows anything about football, because he reads Rivals? And by the way, OU and Nebraska have not offered this kid. Bank it.

Well...take this as a certainty...there is no clearing house for transfers. When a player decides to transfer, the whole world does not know about it.
A player generally asks the school in which he is leaving for a release to a certaon school. It is not automatic and no one but the player knows wehere he intends to transfer. So to say "Tulsa punks SMU on local recruit" is out of bounds (unless you know with certainty that the player had an interest in SMU and contacted the coach)

I will agree that recruiting is a major part of winning....however, there is no basis for any claim that ANY non-BCS school is substantially out recruiting us this year. Coach Bennett and staff are recruiting well and have identified the talent the they belive will make SMU a better team. How much and how soon...we'll simply have to wait and see. I do believe Coach Bennett and staff can identify a player far better than most anyone on this board ...including you and me, Stallion.

Believing this does not make one a "lap dog"..... now if you can complete the report, Stallion, you might rest your case. Until then....

Hoop Fan wrote:There is no reason for SMU to be outrecruited by Tulsa in football. SMU has better football facilities and better location. Neither school has had any consistent success on the field lately, but in fact SMU has a decided head to head advantage since we both joined the WAC. And while Graham is a good local recruiter, so is Bennett. Add it up, and it really makes you wonder what is up.

Post of the year.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

well Tulsa's committed 5 players that SMU offered-all from our backyard-the've got a couple more even more highly recruited players from the Metroplex that we weren't in on, they also have a well thought of OLM from Okla who committed last summer but who SMU was looking at and had in their summer camp. Finally, just for you STAMPEDE over 3/4ths of Tulsa's recruits were offered by -at least one and most several more- schools in the Big 12 or other BCS conference, MWC, SEC, or Phil Bennett-the great evaluator. I'd say Tulsa has whipped our [deleted] in our own backyard. No excuses-we should get 3/4th of the recruits we want in DFW or even Texas when competing against Tulsa

SOLUTION: Hire UTulsa's recruiter for the Texas area. What's his name?
