TCU football player formally charged in drug investigation

March 12, 2012

FORT WORTH, Texas - One of four TCU football players accused of selling marijuana as part of a six-month drug sting has been charged. Cornerback Devin Johnson is charged with three cases of delivery of marijuana between one-quarter ounce and five pounds of marijuana. Johnson and three others are accused of selling marijuana to undercover officers, sometimes arranging deals around practices.

Each case carries up to two years in jail and a $10,000 fine.

Johnson allegedly told an officer that 82 people failed a team-wide drug test ordered two weeks before his arrest Feb. 15. Others in the TCU program have disagreed with that claim.

Defensive tackle D.J. Yendrey, offensive tackle Ty Horn and linebacker Tanner Brock were also arrested.

Nine people have been charged so far.

Why are everyone jumping on Patterson about gene pool comment, but had no problem talking about all the huge violent Samoans we would get when we hired June?

I've made it clear (I think) that these "busts" are a joke, but really? He arranged deals around practice? Sooo you mean he wasn't dealing on the 50 mid-way through hurdles?

Yes, I'm sure he "arranged" the deals around practice but I'm pretty sure he arranged them around his class schedule, sleep schedule, dinner with his girlfriend, pit stops to Shell (never mind, he could slip a sack there), Roman runs at Kroger...

Make this a "football issue" I guess.

TCU fan thinks TCU drug busts are a joke. Shocking.

I think the WaPo has just a tiny bit more credibility than you do on this issue.

They'd be a joke if they were busted for using. But they were dealing, which makes it not a joke. Someone in the administration had to have been looking the other way. Now they won't.
