I don't know if we're beating the Froggies or not. Check back in 2-3 years. And of course, it's always kind of a crapshoot to speculate which incoming players will shine early. From reading the info from folks like Recruiting Guru, Stallion, etc., as well as various on-line reports, I get the sense that the JUCOs have the best chance to play early. From the sounds of things, Clayton Cox might be the prize of the class -- big, rangy, fast. Victor Makinde is a tall, extremely fast CB, but he hasn't been playing football that long, so who knows whether he can step in and start right away. Don't know too much about Randall Goode or Troy Therien.
Among the HS guys, I like Chase Smith. Admittedly, that might be because I've seen him play several times. He's so strong that there were games when it looked like he was being blocked by his little brother (if he has one). I've also seen Justin Willis of Denton Ryan. Nobody's going to look at him and make comparisons to Daunte Culpepper or any of the other huge, bazooka-armed QBs that seem to be en vogue with so many coaches. The game I saw him play, there was a guy in the stands calling him "Brady" .... as in Tom Brady. Personally, I thought that was a fairly outrageous comparison, but both QBs are said to be not that fast, not have really strong arms, etc., but they just win. And win. And win. I don't know Willis's numbers, but he completes a lot of passes (of the short and medium variety, anyway), and they win. Of course, with Romo, Eckert and Phillips coming back, this guy isn't going to play next year.
If Alvin Nnabuife stays at LB, I'd guess that Goode and Bryce Hudman might get to play next year, because of a shortage of safeties (aren't Harper and Sturdivant the only safeties -- other than Nnabuife -- with any experience coming back?)
