If you have ever seen this kid play...he is very, very quick, but he is very slight of size and girth and will never withstand the rigors of top level D-1 football vs. hard hitting big athletes....IMHO

Bingo!gostangs wrote:he wanted a full ride somewhere, nobody but rice offered, he would not see the field for us - and he won't see the field for TCU. he's like 5-7 if we had offered him stallion would have said we were lame for doing so.
i don't think our new receiver coach was a fan - check when the preferred offer supposedly went out. lets worry about the real stuff we should be worrying about - this isn't one of them - its just a chance for stallion to kick some shins to see if he gets a reaction - like a 12 yr old brat.

Miller is a small bone kid....Welker had bones....gostangs wrote:Kind of like a slower, smaller wes welker. Any questions?
Re: HP's Preston Miller Chooses TCU over SMU as Walkon
Really? How often did Welker play running back in an offense that requires its RBs to help out with pass protection? I have no idea if this kid can play or not, but comparing him to Welker is about as relevant as comparing him to an undersized nose tackle or kicker. Apples and oranges. But forgive me if I don't lose sleep over a 5-7 running back unless his name is Barry Sanders.LakeHighlandsPony wrote:He is too small kinda like that Wes Welker kid who sucked too.

Good lord. Many of the posts in this thread are ridiculous. There is nothing wrong with just admitting that he chose TCU over SMU. It is not like he is the first recruit to do so. There doesn't have to be any conspiracy behind it. TCU is a better football program than SMU right now and for most recruits that is all that matters.
Also, this is a walk-on player. Not a scholarship recruit. Why are some of you bad mouthing him for being too small, small bones, etc.? That is even more ridiculous. If he had no weaknesses, he would be on scholarship.
However, this does not mean that he can't do well at TCU and later earn a scholarship. Odds are he will play the slot position at TCU where his current height and weight would be sufficient. TCU has a history of playing walk-ons especially at this position with players like Bart Johnson and Curtis Clay.
FInally, if your standard for walk-ons is really that they have to be as good as Wes Welker or they aren't worth anything. Well, I think your expectations are a wee bit too high. A more realistic expectation would be getting walk-ons who can provide extra depth. Anything beyond this is a bonus. Regardless, I am sure TCU is very happy Miller and others who want to walk-on at TCU.

Re: HP's Preston Miller Chooses TCU over SMU as Walkon
Preston week in and week out had 180-250 yards rushing a game in Texas 4A football. These stats were not in private school league. You can't do that and not know how to play the game. From what I understand its not like the kid was hurting for tuition money. I wish we could have brought him and Stogner in. We have had a great pipeline with the Scots from Doak to Lance to Dave Richards, TD Briggs, Kit Case etc...

Since 2005, Sam Bennett, Charlie Berry, Zach Boyd, Winston Gamso, Kelly Turner...Did we even lift our skirt for Matthew Stafford? That pipeline is nearly dead.

HP'er Blake Poston is currently on the team - faster and bigger then miller - although he plays corner so i don't think he will help except on special teams
keep your eye on William Barns - senior this year - kelly turner version 2.0 . someone with ties make sure someone is awake over there on that one - he will get real offers and already has.
