TCU has changed their recruiting philosophy this year. They have put a greater emphasis on DFW recruits rather than on focusing more on in East Texas and other smaller populated areas (3A/2A/1A classes). Basically, they are going after a larger number of high profile recruits or DFW recruits. The only real exceptions are if they feel there is not enough talent for that position and they have looked OOS. Examples include inside LB and DT. (You guys remember GP's article about feeling SEC country produces more Defensive lineman). Add this all up and this is part of the reason why they have less commits at this point.

However, there is no question that TCU has missed on some recruits in the DFW area. It will probably take TCU a couple of years before they can develop the necessary ties to make those pipelines work. That being said, they are in good shape with some others in the area and, it is a long way until signing day. I wouldn't be surprised if some of these early commits to other schools start to look around later on. How TCU performs this year in the Big12 will have more of an impact on their recruiting than anything else.

And for the record, TCU basically has a second commit who said he will commit once he visits. He is an OOS recruit who will either visit during his Spring Break in April or this Summer. Ironically, TCU's brand is stronger outside of Texas in some ways than it is in the State. Hopefully, the move to the Big12 will change this.

I'm sure we can all count on you to come back on here and admit you were wrong when your dream does not come true. Besides, you should be hoping that TCU does succeed and gets higher caliber recruits. Otherwise, TCU will just end up poaching more SMU recruits and your program will never improve.

I feel compelled to write three paragraphs on a SMU message board justifying how TCU is still ahead of SMU just because some guy pointed out that SMU has two recruits and TCU only has one, in March

Oh wonderful, it's the guy who would prefer to think he is right rather than actually be right.

Your board sure must be boring to feel the desire to come over here and argue benign things. Pitiful really.

To be fair 4 paragraphs would qualify as a TCU PhD thesis, so 3 paragraphs is probably more than he ever wrote as a TCU undergrad assuming he went there.

TCU is a great program. It was arguably our best win since our return from the death penalty. We have to continue to work hard to reach the level that they did.

Their success shouldn't be scorned. It should be respected. I don't like them but I certainly know when commitment on all fronts (athletics, administration and community) have a unified front and want to be excellent in something.

SMU made the decision to do that. Hopefully, the ASU moment with Jones gave all of us pause to recognize that something greater can and will be accomplished here. The Big East is a part of us. We have to continue to stay the course.

Let's beat the Frogs on Sept. 29 and go from there.

So you don't think winning on the road at your rival's building is to be taken lightly? OK, if you say so.

Just remember they won at Boise on the same weekemd we were getting at home by Navy.

Not to derail, but "home field advantage" is actually a fairly interesting statistical question. We have a long way to go at Ford though.
