Re: The Career of the Infamous Darryl Jackson May Be Overwas that the guys that we couldn't get admitted about two years ago?
Derail the Frogs!
Re: The Career of the Infamous Darryl Jackson May Be OverYes sir, Junior. Caused quite an uproar on this here board over admissions standards at our school.
Snuffers cheese fries
Re: The Career of the Infamous Darryl Jackson May Be OverYep, that's when the June love-fest on this board was still in full swing. Seems like a long time ago now. I think people were ready to fire Turner and Orsini, burn down Dallas Hall, and rename the place June Jones University over the Darryl Jackson matter. Now, just a few short years later, many of those same idiots have turned on June. Ironic.
Re: The Career of the Infamous Darryl Jackson May Be Over
i thought that sounded familiar. thanks, 2k. Derail the Frogs!
Re: The Career of the Infamous Darryl Jackson May Be Overthink he was damaged goods all along because he hasn't played a lick since high school and this was referred to as a chronic injury in several reports requiring medical retirement. He didn't play in 2010 or 2011 so I think we may have finally at least answered why such a 'great prospect" had so little recruiting interest. There usually is a reason

Re: The Career of the Infamous Darryl Jackson May Be OverWhat ever happened to Darryl Fields?
Re: The Career of the Infamous Darryl Jackson May Be OverHave no idea who this Jackson kid is.
I thought Fields transferred back to a school NE Oklahoma or something like that (in his home state).
Re: The Career of the Infamous Darryl Jackson May Be OverI think Jackson was the one that moved to Dallas early to get started on summer practice and was called into the school and told he did not make it.
All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: The Career of the Infamous Darryl Jackson May Be Over
i think you're correct. and fields did transfer to a directional OK school after not getting the grades to stay on here. Derail the Frogs!
Re: The Career of the Infamous Darryl Jackson May Be OverSorry to read this. I hope Oregon State honors his scholarship and he earns his degree.
I really shouldn't drink and type.
Re: The Career of the Infamous Darryl Jackson May Be OverWith respect to the title of this thread wasn't it the SMU admissions process that was infamous rather than the player?
So far as Jackson is concerned, in a future without football, I hope first of all that he will be able to move about normally in regular activities. And second, if he is able to benefit from an education past HS - which must have seemed questionable to someone at SMU - I also hope he gets an opportunity.
Re: The Career of the Infamous Darryl Jackson May Be OverStallion, did you like to pull the wings off butterflies as a kid? What gives you the right to label anyone "imfamous", especially a minor. Was he busted for drugs? Knock off a few 7-11's? Father three children with three underage children?
If I recall, he meet the NCAA's prescribed minimums, came to SMU on his own dollar from the West Coast for the summer to be part of our team and was rejected in July by an admittance committee that decided to be arbitrary. I also recall the head of that committee was reasigned shortly thereafter to what is the equivalent to a senior secretary in the Perkins School of Divinity. As a result, President Turner had to form a task force to reevaluate our admissions policies. As a 17-18 year old he had the self confidence to go directly to President Turner and ask for an appointment to make his case. Pretty impressive given his age and economic and minority background. Don't you think you need to accomplish as much in your life before you start being so judgemental? I can only speak for myself, I grew up attending one of the best high schools in the country, in an upperclass community, to an upper middleclass family with three generations of college graduates, and at that age didn't possess one tenth of this young man's moxie! Just why you find joy in some young man's physical injuries is beyond me. It says a lot about you and living you life on the internet instead of interacting with challenging people. I guess you can't teach class, you either have it or you don't!
Re: The Career of the Infamous Darryl Jackson May Be Over
Whoa, relax. I don't think Stallion is taking a shot at this kid- he is just referring to the whole Darryl Jackson situation as infamous, as it was a huge deal on all the SMu message boards and drew a lot of attention. And btw, while he did meet NCAA min requirements- I don't think SMU was at fault for denying him admission as every other college made him the same offer we did.

I did not think stallion was taking a shot at the kid either. No reason to pick a fight about everything.
