Not sure how coveted the SMU HC position is in the marketplace. I think more highly of the position and expected level of interest since I haven't missed a game in many years. However, if we throw enough money at it, then the interest level will increase.

I'm now on the Johnny Jones bandwagon. IMHO, he's seems to be the best fit for the job. While I agree we are a sleeping giant, we still have to prove some things before we can attract a big name coach.

$3MM and we still can't find anyone. Is this a "lipstick on a pig" type of situation. Are there more underlying reasons why we can't find a quality coach for the amount of money that is being tossed around?

FWIW, I'm pretty sure Orsini hasn't settled yet folks. He's still hunting big names, cause that's what Steve Os do. He may just get rid of that 3 mill yet. Its not like we've struck out on a slew of candidates, we're just not truly offering anyone.

Also, allow his ego a minute to mend. He truly thought he had buzz, only to get bent over. Being butt hurt takes a minute to heal.

So I was at DC alumni event a few days ago and heard candidates with current or previous Big10, Big 12, Big East or ACC are being considered.

I'm guessing the Big 10 and Big East are presumably out? Unless there are other candidates that are HCs at other school sin the conference.

Presumably Larry Brown and maybe Seth Greenberg are still in play?

Also, if they can't get a big name, assistants with HC experience at big programs will be considered

And the candidate would preferably have experience at a solid-to-high academics school.

I have been really excited for the past couple of weeks but it really has reached the "wake me up when it's over" point...

I'm sure we will come out of this ok - and obviously the let down of Buzz kind of made for a dismal week.

I'm not the biggest Steve O fan but I don't think it's fair to blame him on this one yet.
