Many have assumed Ben Gottschalk would be the heir apparent to Kelvin Beachum, Jr., at left tackle for the SMU Mustangs. But when the Ponies opened spring workouts Monday, Gottschalk was on the sideline, watching the rest of the offensive linemen go through drills under new coach Bob Palcic without him. Gottschalk visited with PonyFans.com to discuss why is is sidelined, and when he expects to return to the field.

Very concerning news on a guy that was penciled in as astarter. Back injuries are tough to overcome.
