Spring Practice Interest at a New Low?

For the last few years Spring Practice around here has been like like Christmas day. What's going on? No play by play of stretching, jumping jacks, and position battles? Is this a reflection of a fan base totally dissatisfied with the antics of the head coach? Help me out here.

We don't hit, we don't have a spring game, we know we're going to win, and we're looking for a hoops coach. We're also on a mid major "farewell tour." No biggie.

I may be in the minority, but I think the reporters here and elsewhere can raise enthusiasm by posting more of the personal stories of the players. Who's looking good at their positions, why did you come to SMU, how is the academic side working out, a day in the life of, what about the social life on campus, what expectations walk-ons have, etc. That would help me get to know the guys I will be cheering for in the Fall. I know I certainly enjoy the ones they do write.

Spring practice is mostly mundane anyway. It is mostly for a look at younger players. Would be interested in seeing the spring roster though.

JJ doesn't like scrimmages (waste of time), which is what the fans want to watch. so not much to see.

Basketball interest is at an all-time high.

Given the "intensity" of our spring practice, it's just nothing to get worked up about yet. The JJ fiasco is old news. I don't think most pople care about that now. I know I surely don't.

Exactly. But at Alabama they pull in about 75,000 fans for a spring game.

Our total home attendance last season probably wasn't much more than 75,000.......
