Maybe someone could go up to Lexington and see if they could resuscitate Adolph Rupp, famed coach of the U of Kentucky. Larry Brown is OK, I guess, but good Lord, he's 71! I love old-timers (I'm one myself), but a 71 year old coach going into the home of an 18 year old to convince him to come to SMU? I don't get it.

Trey was using the powers of Gamehendge to allow the show to continue, to give the band the strength it needed to help break through this barrier

If we land Larry Brown, will PF.com hire Allen Iverson to give practice reports?

OK, so recruiting in DFW is important but many teams can build NCAA contenders without local talent. If he can recruit DFW great, if not, go all over the USA. That said, I want Larry Brown and if he's here for 2 years and finishes .500 in cusa then .500 in BE that would be an improvement. Also, stop scheduling teams we never heard of. Let's step it up. SO padded the schedule for DOH and that is boring and produced bland basketball.

The schedule did not make the basketball boring and bland, it was our coaching that did that. But don't worry because we will get all the tough teams we want when we get to the Bid East conference play.

We've had 3 euro's on the team in the past 4 or 5 years. One was a frosh last year and is quite talented

FWIW, the HCIW worked well at Purdue. Matt Painter came over from his Missouri Valley job (I think So. Illinois) and was on the bench in Gene Keady's last 1 or 2 years before he took over for Keady.

Boilermakers have been pretty successful. If this comes down like we're speculating, you could have Brown as your CEO type of coach and have Benford basically running gameplans, recruiting, etc...

But then again, this whole thing could go poof by Monday because of the "wizards" running this thing.

Obvious failure- too many of us want that to happen. The power brokers will over rule us on this idea.

Has the "head coach in waiting" ever worked out for anybody? I can't think I'd one off hand.

After the Muschamp Rule you'll never see another hot-shot young coach being named Head Coach in Waiting at least in Footballl because they are limited in off campus recruiting. Don't know if BB has the same rule

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.

You can have a tacit agreement without the formal title.

Just make Benford the HC and Brown the Assoc. HC. Both should be happy as should we.
