the sonic youth

Long time no read, no post. But it's creeping up, this game with the squids, so the excitement shall return.

But, an amusing observation... anyone else notice that the most ruthless and shameless smack talking on these boards comes from the most inexperienced players' family, friends and alter egos? I think some of us were guilty of the same when our friends, children and brothers first arrived 3-4 years ago. Some proved to be prophetic, others just proved to be foolish.

Just realize this: Everyone is proud of where their favorite player's talents, hard work and/or (sometimes) even their connections get them. And as ProudPonyPa says, we are on the same team... so what is the point of criticizing somebody that hasn't even taken a class at SMU much less had a chance to prove any worth on a field during a true game? The same goes for praising someone who hasn't proven anything.

For those of you whose child, friends or whatever make it to their last year, you'll probably experience a transformation much like many of us have... from wide-eyed and shamelessly proud, to a distinct nervousness as they line up against someone bigger and 3-4 years older, to gratitude after their first big play... eventually you find yourself saying "wow, your writing sure has improved" more often than "can you lift that Doak Walker Statue?". Finally, if your really lucky, you get to look forward to one final year of watching college football all over the West, your favorite is a regular, successful player and your whole attitude is pretty down to earth. Then you talk to and read crazy posts from people related or befriended by players you've never heard of and find yourself smiling.

It really is an interesting cycle.

Welcome back, jettison. I was wondering what had happened to you.

Now can anyone track down Joyous and BUS, too?

Baby jettison (who is fearless) learns to crawl and scoot and get into every nook and cranny. This leaves very limited time for me to surf the internet and talk about hamburger joints, prospective recruits and team colors.

I've seen Joyous at games chasing baby Comet (which sounds like a much more difficult chase), and I'm sure this crosses over at home and interferes with their internet time.

As for the Bus, last I heard he was out looking for more fat guys.

Have no fear HorsePower - I'm still around. Things are getting a little easiler. Sometimes I have a chance to read but nothing to really write about right now. You will be tired of me real soon. Thanks for missing me.

Joyous: would be interested to hear how Chris' rehab is coming along. Does he expect to be back to 100% by 2-a-days?

Rehab went wonderful. He was fully recovered for spring. All we can do now is pray to stay healthy. On another note, sure was some nice pictures of our Ponies in Campbell's Texas Football.

Glad you're back, Joyous! You're a great part of this board, and we'll never get tired of your input. Your enthusiasm is the kind all PonyFans need.

Rehab? What happened to Chris? I saw him during spring ball, and he looked fine. Any lingering injury there, or will he be 100% in August? We're looking for a huge year from #21.

HorsePower - I assume they are referring to when he had knee surgery. Yes that was a while back and Thank God have been injury free since then.
